HOW TO INHERIT YOUR BLESSINGS 1

Rom 12:2

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

NASB

God has blessed you already if you are in Christ. Because God is spirit and in heaven, He has blessed you with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places (see Eph 1:3). This is much better than if the blessings were mere physical blessings on the earth- if there was any such blessing. The foundation of this physical realm is the spirit realm; things that are not seen are the eternal things while the things that are only seen are temporal, God does not give you temporary gifts, he does not bless us temporarily that is why His blessings are spiritual and eternal. If they are spiritual then they must have a physical manifestation because the spirit realm controls the physical.

While on this earth, we desperately need the physical manifestation of these blessing we have in such spiritual abundance. If it is true that we are blessed spiritually then we should see the physical manifestation of the blessing; how then can we physically inherit our blessing?

When you walk in the will of God then you will see the manifestation of the blessing because God’s will on the earth attracts His kingdom and power to the earth (see Matthew 6:10). The problem is that many Christians do not walk in God’s will for them. Our text shows us that In order to be able to walk in the will of God you need to have a renewed mind. Your old mind can never walk in the will of God because your old mind has been wired to walk in the will of you (which will ultimately fulfill Satan’s will because of the sinful nature). The maxims and principles of the old unregenerate mind are contrary to that of the mind of Christ which is the only kind of mind that thrives in the kingdom of God. Renewing your mind means your value system changes from that of this world to that of the kingdom, it means your absolute definition of good and bad must conform to God’s definition, it means your cares should not be the same as the cares of this world… continues tomorrow.

Go into today knowing that the way you think is the starting point of inheriting your blessings.

Prayer: thank you father for your word which renews my mind. I pray you help me study and understand your word this week, In Jesus name. Amen

THE LAST DAYS

Acts 2:17

"'In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.

The bible reveals that the last days began after the resurrection of Jesus. Hebrews 1: 1 shows that in previous times God spoke to us through the prophets but in these last days has spoken to us through His son Jesus Christ. The death and resurrection of Christ marked a new dispensation for man; this dispensation is the last dispensation before the kingdom of this world crumbles for the kingdom of God and His Christ (see Rev 11:15); this is the final dispensation for the kingdom of this world so in the actual sense it is the last days for the kingdom of this world ruled by the prince of this world (the Devil).

One of the notable characteristics of these last days is a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit (see Acts 2:17); everyone can now receive the Holy Spirit as long as he is born again and loves the lord. Because of this outpouring, there is a more desperate move by the kingdom of darkness to keep the world under bondage. That is why there are more atrocities and perils in these last days (see 2 Tim 3:1-4).

Go into today knowing that you are to see a greater dimension of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in your life these last days, for this is God’s will for you.

Prayer: thank you heavenly father for sending your Holy Spirit to fill me and perform your exploits through me. I pray that from this day I will experience a greater dimension of His manifestation, in Jesus name. Amen

When a Christian cares too much about the things of this world, chances are that he will not grow and he is compromising his spiritual authority. Walking in the spirit or being a spiritual Christian means your spiritual life means more to you than your physical life. The center of your gravity (as it were) is no more your flesh and feelings but now the spirit man. When you do this you ascend to higher control of spiritual authority.

One out of the numerous advantages of having more spiritual authority is that demons, devils and principalities obey you; even the elements and elementals will obey your voice. This authority is the result of the position you have attained by walking in the spirit. Each time you walk in the spirit instead of the flesh you gain more ground in the realm of the spirit and this is spiritual authority.

Go into today determined to walk in the spirit and not in the flesh.

Prayer: Father in heaven, thank you for this day, please help me walk in the spirit and manifest the fruit of the spirit. Please deliver me from the grip of this world and the grip of the flesh, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

Too many times we forget that the God we serve is the one who created the heavens and the earth; the whole universe, all that we can both see and cannot see. He made them all. We also forget that there is no one as powerful as Him for all power belongs to Him (see: Psalm 62:11). All demons, wicked people; evil doers and the even the devil are subjected to His authority, little wonder Paul stated in Romans 8:31 "if the lord be for us who can be against us?" he did not say this because there'll be no oppositions for surely there'll be as written in Isaiah 54:15. But these oppositions when placed before the almighty God are nothing considerable-they will always fall for your sake. The problem often times is that we focus more on our problems, adversaries, pains, faults, weaknesses than we do on God; we forget that He can deliver us.

As long as Peter’s eyes were on Jesus, he walked on water, but immediately He took his eyes off Jesus to focus on the waves, he began to sink (see Matt 14:30). Does this send a signal to you? Are you focusing too much on your oppositions, faults, weaknesses? Are you not spending too much energy and time worrying?

Make a change today; stop worrying and fix your eyes on Jesus. Cast your cares upon Him for He cares for you. Hold on to Jesus for He wouldn't fail you.

Go into today with the confident assurance that God is on your side and victory is sure.

Prayer: Thank God for bringing you to this day. Ask the lord to help you always fix your eyes on Him; that you will have a Jesus consciousness at all times. Commit your day and the rest of the week to his mighty hand.

DOMINATED BY THE SPIRIT

Rom 8:5-8

Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. 7 For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God's laws, and it never will. 8 That's why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God.

One of the ways you can discern which of the two natures dominate you (either the Spirit’s or the sinful nature) is observing the things that dominate your thoughts. When sinful or worldly things dominate your mind, it is an indication that even though you may be a Christian, you are now being dominated by the sinful nature.

There is the question of how this should ever be possible since you are a child of God. The truth is that as long as you live in this flesh (that can never of its own accord please God), there will be a tendency, if you don’t watch it, of gravitating towards its appetites instead of toward the Spirit’s appetites. Thankfully, God has given us a remedy to this problem. He has given us His word which washes us to make us Holy(see Eph 5:26), He has given us the Holy Spirit who comforts, guides and makes us Holy again, and He has given us one another to strengthen each other. If you take advantage of these, you will never fail in your Christian walk. Let the spirit control your mind by dominating your mind with the word of God and confessing it.

Prayer: thank you heavenly father for saving me. Thank you for giving me your word and the spirit. I pray you help me dwell in your word daily and constantly walk in the spirit. I pray you help me never again walk in the wrong company. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

TRUE LOVE FOR GOD

When workers begin to work in large organizations, they are told what time to resume and what time to close, how to dress, what the job description is and so on. They do not start explaining to them where the salary is going to come from and most times the workers don't need to worry about that; all they need to worry about is getting their jobs done and then receiving their reward in form of a salary at the end of the agreed period. It is the same way with God; our job description is to love Him and obey Him; everything else will fall in place. True Love for God secures our future because it opens the door to the Holy Spirit’s unrestricted control. This love chastises us and comforts us, it takes some things away and gives us so much more; it breaks down strongholds and builds us up. May the lord shed His love abroad in our hearts that we may have a richer experience of Him.

Go into today knowing your responsibility is to love God and do not worry about anything else.

Prayer

Thank God for bringing you into this glorious day.

Declare in Jesus name that today is indeed glorious for you.

Ask the lord to give you grace to love Him more than ever before.

DEEP CALLS TO DEEP

Psalm 42:7

“Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.”

There are two major things that cause diseases in the world today; air and water. In the passage for today, the psalmist talks about deep waters. Surface water is always polluted. Anyone that drinks surface water is most likely to fall sick. Consider the borehole drilling, before you can get clean water, you must drill in real deep.

God is not interested in surface waters. Deep must “call unto deep”, God only answers those who call from the deep. Surface water Christians are lukewarm Christians, and it is very likely they will not prevail before God. We need to desire to go a bit deeper with the Lord. We need the Lord to give us the deep waters revelation which signifies strength, strength that is not human, for “by strength shall no man prevail” (see 1 Sam. 2:9). When God takes you to the deep and causes you to drink from the deep, others who come to you will share from this depth. Do you desire to have a more fruitful walk with the Lord? Do you desire that your life will be useful to the Lord? Do you desire that your life will be a source of nourishment to others as you get daily nourishment from the Lord’s presence? Do you desire to live life in abundance as our Lord promised us? Then desire today to go a little deeper with the Lord.

Prayer: thank you heavenly father for bringing me to this day. I pray lord that you teach me your ways that I may always walk in your truth. In Jesus name. Amen

WALKING IN FORGIVENESS

1 John 1:7

Today before going to take my shower in the morning I was talking with a friend who said to “ask God for forgiveness” and I replied immediately,” I am walking in forgiveness”. I discovered that God put those words in my mouth.

I pray God will help us understand that before you open your mouth to ask for forgiveness God has already forgiven you. It is not your confession that cleanses you from all unrighteousness but the blood. If you make any confessions it is because you realize you are in a relationship with a person who cares and not because you are being condemned. in Matt 6:14, Mark 11:25, Jesus made it very clear that God forgives us because we accept and understand His grace; we prove this by forgiving others who have wronged us thereby manifesting the character of God; and this is the definition of walking in the light. Those who walk in the light are those who get to be constantly cleansed by the blood of Jesus (see 1 john 1:7).

If you come to a point in your Christian life where you recognize that Jesus constantly advocates for you because of your faith in Him, you will live a victorious life.

When we talk about confessing our sins, it is about being open with God. Confession in the New Testament is being honest about your failures.

Go into today walking in the forgiveness-grace consciousness and never again in the sin-guilt consciousness.

NOTE: walking in Forgiveness does not lead to a lifestyle of sin; it leads to a life of glorifying the lord Jesus.

PRAYER: I thank you lord for taking my place on the cross. I thank you for forgiving me even before I open my mouth in prayers. I pray you give me grace to be more like you daily. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

FRIENDSHIP WITH GOD

The spirit of God that now dwells within you makes it possible for you now have a good relationship with the lord as a friend as well. God wants you to know His mind just like friends know each other’s minds. God wants you to be in the know of His operations among the sons of men. He wants to be your friend.

He has said that he remembers your sins no more when they have been washed in His precious blood (the blood of Jesus). He is the best friend you can ever have.

Do not let a guilty conscience stand between you and your friendship with the lord God; this is the greatest hindrance to friendship with God. If there is any sin in your life, confess, forsake and move on it in the name of Jesus and see the grace of God empower you to live a life that produces friendship with the most high.

Go into today knowing that friendship with God is a possibility and you are eligible.

Prayer:

Heavenly father, I thank you today for giving me the grace to come into your presence. I ask that you help me have the right mind in my relationship with you so I can grow in my closeness to you. I ask this in Jesus name. Amen

GOD’S LOVE FOR US

The truth is that God has chosen us against all human reason and sense. This means that looking at things from a sensible human perspective, there is no reason why God should still be interested in humankind.

One of the major things that define true love is that there is usually no reason for it. It’s just there. It does not exist because of what it will get in return or because it sees potential. This is the kind of love that God has for us. His love is a giving love. His love wants the best for us and is not motivated by a return.

Now you may be wondering that God wants us to worship Him and live Holy lives, isn’t that something we are doing for Him? But the truth here is that all the instructions God gives us are for our own good. God does not need us for anything (He is self-sustaining) but we need Him for everything (our world continues to exist because of Him).

Go into today with a thankful heart knowing that God loves you and will not leave you alone. With this knowledge, thank Him for His grace upon your life.

Prayer: thank God for bringing you in this day. Commit your day into His hands and ask Him to perfect all that concerns you. Pray all these in Jesus name.

REDEEMED FROM THE LAW

Further reading: Galatians 3 and 4

In this scripture, Paul was addressing the misconception among the Galatians who were called Christians; these people were living by grace but in their daily lives they were still held bound by the demands of the law. And about such people the bible says the heir as long as he is a child (still living under the law) differeth nothing from a servant , though he be lord of all.

You are a co-heir with Christ but as long as your mind has not been renewed to a sonship level, you are still a child and your inheritance will not be committed to you.

Note that the moment you give your life to Christ Jesus, your dead conscience is made alive and if you don’t have anybody to teach you grace as a foundation, each time you come in contact with the word of God you will keep on trying to keep the law in the flesh. And this is not the gospel of our lord Jesus; the gospel of Jesus is the gospel of grace and truth (see John 1:17). You keep the law (of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus) by faith and not by works; this faith produces a righteousness that even the law (of sin and death) cannot fault (see Gal 5:23).

A son is the one who understands that the righteousness of God is reveled from faith to faith and not from faith to works.

Go into today determined to live your life by grace (total dependence on the finished work on the cross; God’s empowerment to express Christ).

PRAYER: ask God to deliver you from work to work mentality and help you to see the true Gospel.

2 Cor 5:17-19

17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

18 And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him.

We all have responsibilities towards God. Among other reasons God saved us so we can save lost souls for Him. Our text today says He has given us the task of reconciling people to Him.

To do this work God has generously empowered us just as Jesus did the disciples before sending them out (see Luke 9:1-2); He has empowered us with talents, gifts, experiences (God wants to use our past experiences either good or bad for His glory) and above all He has given us the Holy spirit .

The question is, what are you doing with everything the lord has put at your disposal for His work? Do not forget that our works will be tested as Paul stated (see 1 Cor 3:13). And Jesus concerning our works said he will reward everyone according to his work (Rev 22:12). What would you be rewarded for? Or would you walk through the face of the earth only to return to the master like the unworthy servant? (matt 25:25) God forbid!

Go into today with a consciousness of the fact that you have a God-given assignment to fulfill here on earth. Many in past times have accomplished their work for God; many are doing theirs, but what about you?

Prayer: Thank God for bringing you to this glorious day. Pray that God will give you grace to fulfill your destiny. Ask the lord to connect you with the right people for destiny enhancement and disconnect you from the wrong people.

THE MESSAGE OF GOD’S GRACE 1

Rom 6:1-2

What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2 By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?

I was challenged by another friend last week when discussing the grace of God with a friend who was trying to understand the message of God’s grace. My friend was concerned because he saw the message of grace as a license that many Christians use to walk in sin and the flesh. I shared his concern and told him that anyone who sees the grace of God as a license to sin does so because he does not understand the grace of God. Such a one is walking in lawlessness and not grace.

Grace is indeed the opposite of the law but it is not lawlessness. When you walk in grace you are translated from the law of sin and death to the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus (see Rom 8:2). Because this is also a law it means you have to submit to it. Obeying the law of the spirit of life simply means you are submitted to the authority of the spirit of God which produces the life of Christ in you. This life is the power with which you live a Holy life before God and do exploits on the earth.

There is something that must happen before this grace is activated in the life of anyone, such a person must be dead to sin; this means he is dead to the flesh and alive in the spirit. One of the ways to do this is to have more of a Holy Spirit consciousness than a ‘me’ or flesh consciousness; it should be more of what He wants rather than what I want.

Go into today determined to walk in the spirit by giving Him higher priority in your life.

Prayers: Thank your heavenly father for bringing you into this glorious day. Pray that God will give you grace to walk in grace (grace for grace; see John 1:16). Pray that the Holy Spirit will empower you to be a true agent for the advancement of His kingdom.

In order to be led by the spirit of God you should have the Spirit; we must have the Holy Spirit so we can be led by Him. People who don't have the Holy Spirit cannot be sons because they will be led by anything and everything; jealousy, anger, lust etc. and sometimes even familiar spirits.

Secondly it is one thing to hear and another to obey the spirit of the lord. Hearing and obeying is the definition of being led.

Sometimes we hear God and make our own decisions regardless of the Spirit’s leading, that is not walking in sonship, that is a babe’s spirit. The Holy spirit basically leads us by the word of God we know and by the prophetic or perceiving witnesses of our spirits, for example, if you are in a situation where you are tempted to steal and you really need to know the will of God there, the word of God you know about stealing is what the Holy spirit uses to lead in that instant. You do not need to start praying to hear from the Holy Spirit about the matter because the Holy Spirit has already spoken about the matter; He has spoken through the written word of God so in that instant He leads you to do His will by His word you already know. The whole idea behind the Holy Spirit’s leading is that you are following.

Go into today with the knowledge that you have a responsibility to lead your life according to the leading of the Spirit.

Prayer

Dear lord please give me the grace to always follow your leading no matter how difficult it may seem, in Jesus name. Amen

Portions of the bible like this used to be the most unpleasant and boring for me to read. I didn’t even understand what they were doing in the bible.This blessed morning, I was thinking of starting to read the book of Matthew when I was encountered again with these text: ‘and Abraham Begat Isaac, Isaac begat, begat…’ just as I was about to start reading in a rush to pass through the ‘boring’ portion, I was struck with this though; I noticed these people mentioned in the text were normal everyday human beings living and trying to make ends meet day by day. In the midst of all; the good, bad, God was using them to fulfill a grand purpose that would shake the whole of eternity. It all started with Abraham who decided to trust and worship God even when there seemed to be no tangible motivation. He received a promise and God guarded His word through several generations to fulfill it. Many of those people in the text probably didn’t know that the peculiarities of their life’s encounter would ultimately work out for the fulfillment of God’s grand purpose. Many of the events in their lives that seemed like coincidences ultimately turned out to be for the fulfillment of God’s purpose-a grand design from before the foundations of the earth.

I don’t know what you are going through in your life right now, but I want you to know that there is absolutely nothing you go through that is a coincidence. It is only with us that there seem to be coincidences; it is not the case with God. If you are a man who is trusting God like Abraham did, then I want you to know that every detail in your life will end up fulfilling a grand design that will leave you with an expected, happy end.

Go into today remembering that God loves you and He wants you to fulfill your destiny more than you want to fulfill it- this is the truth.

Prayer: Thank you father for this day. Thank you Lord because I know everything is turning around for my good, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

A SON’S HEART: A HEART FOR GOD

After the king was settled in his palace and the Lord had given him rest from all his enemies around him, 2 he said to Nathan the prophet, "Here I am, living in a palace of cedar, while the ark of God remains in a tent."

God brought David from the wilderness into a beautiful palace as He promised; David’s natural response was to want to build a house for the lord.

I don’t know what God has done for you that He promised, but like David, I want you to forget not all God’s benefits and let a heart of thanksgiving inspire a physical sacrifice of thanks. This is the heart of a man who is a son and no more a spiritual babe. One of the characteristics of babies is they always take and never give back, they have no responsibilities.

God blesses and establishes any man with this kind of heart because God rewards every labor of love (see Heb 6:10).

Go into today with a renewed determination to have a heart that is after God; have a thankful heart and one that is willing to give to His work here on earth. One way you can start is by freely distributing these devotionals to your friends and loved ones on the social media (eg, Whatsapp, Facebook, BBM, etc.) as the lord leads you. God blesses you as you take responsibility in the kingdom. Many young Christians today wake up not picking up their bibles but checking their smartphones for updates. Always remember that the grace of God is sufficient for you and you are always progressing from glory to glory (see Prov 4:18)

HOLINESS AS SONS 2

In material science, the degree of purity of a metal is directly proportional to the ability of the metal to conduct heat or electricity. When a metal still has impurities, it is not as conductive and strong as it would be if the impurities are removed.

Holiness is the climax of Spiritual purity, so the higher the purity, the higher the holiness, the lower the purity, the lower the holiness; the purer you are the more effectively you transmit God’s power. God is (absolutely) holy; we are to be like Him. We can be Holy when we have the Holy Spirit and yield to Him(Humans always express the nature of spirit inhabiting them); this will cleanse us from impurity as our walking in the light activates the constant cleansing by the blood of Jesus (See I John 1:7).

If you are not yet baptized in the Holy Ghost, you will struggle to be Holy. We established yesterday that when you are holy then you will be able to express God’s other attributes of power, might, glory, wisdom, knowledge etc.

Jesus says "Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!" (Luke 11:11-13).

Go into today determined to be baptized in the Holy Spirit or stay filled with the Holy Spirit if you are already baptized. (The Devotional of Sunday, August 10, 2014 teaches how to stay filled with the spirit)

It is in the nature of the lion to roar, it is in the nature of the sheep to bleat. The nature of our God is Holiness and we His children are to be holy as He is holy (see 1 Peter 1:16). What the grace of God produces in you is holiness and holiness produces eternal life.

Holiness is not a product of the mind alone, it is a product of the spirit empowered mind; this empowerment comes from the Holy Spirit within you. He empowers you when you surrender totally to His will; when you have come to the end of yourself and depend on His power for life and godliness (see 2 Peter 1:3).

When a man is Holy like God, he will then be able to express all of God’s other attributes of power, wisdom, might, glory, dominion, eternal life etc.

Go into today determined to live by the power the Holy Spirit supplies. He is a present help in time of need, He is more interested in your welfare than you.

FURTHER STUDY: JOHN 15:1-16(click to read)

All the authority in heaven and on earth has been given unto Jesus. This means that all the right and authorization to exert any form of power is given unto Jesus. Because you are joined with Christ; a member of His body, you automatically tap into this power that He has. The more effectively joined to Christ you are, the more flow of His power you will have in your life.

I want you to think of a branch that is joined to a tree; that branch enjoys from the substance of the tree, the power and life with which that branch survives is drawn from the tree. If a portion of the part connecting the branch to the tree has been severed, then the branch begins to die out and suffer, it may not die completely if it has a wound, but the branch will be deficient of substance till its connection to the tree is healed. If for some reason a branch gets infected with a disease, it will affect the flow of power in that branch and it needs to get healed to regain its normal stature. We are branches and Jesus is the vine.

Some of the things that sever our link with Christ are iniquity, guilt, and unbelief. One of the major causative factors of spiritual disease is guilt (listen to the audio for more insight).

God wants to do so much for you and through you, so much more than you can ever imagine. God will do this through the power that is in you. You get this power by staying joined to Christ.

Remember Jesus said “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you”. John 15:7 KJV

The key to receiving more from God is having His power in your life, the key to this power is abiding in Christ, and the key to abiding in Christ is trust in Him and obeying His word.

Prayer: thank you heavenly father to the access I have to your great power. I pray dear lord that you help me walk constantly in this power, in Jesus name. Amen

Ebola virus is very much talked about in the world today. Its popularity picked up considerate heat when the virus (through one man) entered Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country. Some medical professionals have made it abundantly clear that such diseases are hard to cure because of the very dynamic nature of viruses but one way they can easily find a cure is if they can find a man who was once infected with the virus who is now cured; from Him they could carefully obtain antibodies with which they could develop a vaccine or cure. I am not very vast in medical science and hope I haven’t misrepresented the scientific principle I am trying to explain here. One thing is clear though, Ebola virus came into Nigeria through one man, and the same virus can be cured through another man whose body has succeeded in overcoming the incurable disease and recovered from the plague.

The virus of sin came into Humankind through one man (Adam) who was conquered by it. The solution to sin has also come into this world through one man (Jesus; the last Adam) who conquered sin. You are now in Christ Jesus and that His life that has the ability to conquer sin is now in you. Do not give room to the devil by thinking sin is too great to be conquered anymore. Know that it is not by your power but you now have a new powerful life that conquers sin. Walk in that life and not in the old life which is flesh. This new life is the spirit life; the old life is the flesh life (see John 3:6). You walk in this new life by living consciousness under total surrender to the lordship of Christ and control of the spirit.

Go into today knowing that you are now born of the Spirit; you have a new life in you and this life is always victorious and flourishing.

Prayer: dear heavenly father, I thank you for your word today. I pray you help me walk in my new life and never again in the flesh, in Jesus name. Amen

One famous scientist was asked that when he leaves this world and has to stand before God, what reason would he give for not accepting the gospel? He replied that he would tell God it was because God didn’t give him enough proof. When I think of this I can’t help but think of a man who closes his eyes and says he is blind, then bumps into people and blames them for bumping into him because he is blind.

The truth is that we cannot truthfully say that we are oblivious to the fact that there is a creator of the universe except we want to join some in closing their eyes to the reality.

What a close study of the earth and the entire universe shows us is that there is a design. Leaves were designed to produce oxygen that we breathe, the earth was designed to be conducive for human life, the galaxy was designed to be conducive for the earth etc.

The reason why there was so much idol worship in the past and there still is in this present day is because humans have always known that there is a being to whom they are to be thankful for life. Many of them in not knowing how to get to Him resulted in making images and objects of what they think He is.

Jesus is the only way to God the creator of the heavens and the earth. You can only get to God through believing and accepting Jesus Christ into your life as your lord and savior.

Go into today knowing that you have unlimited access to the king and creator of the entire universe.

If you are not born again, ask the lord to forgive you, come into your heart and confess Jesus as the lord of your life. Also believe that God raised him from the death when He died to save you.

Prayer: Dear heavenly father, I thank you for the opportunity you have granted me to gain access into your presence. I pray that I won’t waste this opportunity in Jesus name. Amen

The Holy Spirit is the one who empowers us to be sons of God. The presence of the Holy Spirit in your life is what empowers you to live the life of sonship. The life of sonship is the life that commands God's great power. Jesus was the one that said you shall receive power after the Holy ghost has come upon you (see Acts 1:8)... The power you need to live the life of holiness is supplied when the Holy spirit has come upon you. You need this power for every other thing you do in your life, for example, the bible says it is God that gives you power to get wealth (see Deut 8:18). This power is also known as the grace of God.

Our text today tells us to not be drunk with wine but filled with the spirit... You cannot be drunk with wine and filled with the spirit at the same time. But the point I’m driving at here is that in order to constantly walk in the fullness of God's power you need to be constantly filled with the Spirit. This applies to those who are already baptized in the Holy Ghost.

We are told to be always filled with the spirit and this is how we accomplish this: Speaking to yourselves in palms, hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart...giving thanks always to God. Speaking to yourselves does not mean speaking to each other. This simply means going around with a Holy Spirit consciousness, there is always a song, a psalm, a hymn, a thanksgiving in your heart. When every waking moment of your life is saturated by these, you will be saturated by God's presence and God's power.

Go into today determined to be filled with the spirit by going out with a Holy Spirit consciousness; doing this by constantly singing palms, hymns, spiritual songs and constantly thanking your heavenly father through Christ Jesus.

Prayer: thank you lord for the Holy Spirit. I pray you give me grace to stay filled with the Holy Spirit in Jesus name. Amen

POWER FOR SONSHIP 2

Further Study Ps 82:1-8, Gal 4:1-7

Yesterday, we said that because you are born again, God has given you power to become His son. We also attempted to establish that the fact a person has this God given power doesn’t mean he or she will utilize it and in reality there are many born again persons who do not use this power so they do not walk in their authority as sons of God.

How do you use this Power?

First and foremost, you have to walk in the conviction and conscious knowledge that you are a child of God; that God is your father and that your father cares for you. You have to live in the knowledge that God watches jealously over you and that even the hair on your head are numbered by your father in heaven(see Matt 10:30)…He cares for you.

The Holy Spirit is very important in this process, unless you are filled with the spirit, you cannot actualize your full potential as a son. We shall  explain more on this topic tomorrow.

As you grow in the spirit; you get to know God more and more because your walk with God is essentially spiritual. You grow in the spirit by feeding and exercising your spirit man: you feed on the word of God, breathe the spiritual air of God’s presence by constant ‘passive’ prayer (a constant link you have to heaven where you are always communicating with God e.g. in the bus, on the street, everywhere…), exercise your spirit’s muscles and build up yourself with active fervent prayers (see Jude: 20, James 5:16). As you pray/talk to God, He also talks to you; He talks to you through the Bible (He is talking to you right now through this Devotional).

Go into today knowing that because your father in heaven watches over every detail of your life, you should be careful to make sure your life is lived in a way that pleases  Him all the time. You have to go around with a God consciousness; a consciousness that God watches over you and that nothing can happen to you by accident.

Prayer: Thank you heavenly father for speaking your word of life to me. I pray you help me walk with a consciousness of your presence and never again with a sin consciousness. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

God has shown us such great love to the end that we will have an authentic father-son relationship with Him forever. Unfortunately, not many of us get to experience this. The reason why is because even though many of us may have accepted Jesus Christ so to be born again, we sometimes fail to use the power God has made available for us to become sons of God. Remember the bible says ‘for as many as believe in Jesus Christ, God gave them power to become sons of God…’John 1:12. This says God gives you power to become His son if you believe in Jesus Christ. This passage did not say you are (automatically) a son of God because you believe in Christ. So what is the difference?

The difference is that the power is now made available for you; it is now your choice whether or not to use it.

Being a son is a position of responsibility and power. Our further study in Galatians tells us that God ultimately wants us to become sons. God wants you to become a son so that you can command great power and authority in the spirit realm and in this world. Tomorrow we shall be looking at how we can use this power that God has made available to us in order that we may become sons of God.

It is not God’s will for you to grope in ignorance as to who you are and what you have!

You need to be immersed in the awareness that God loves you so much and He cares for every detail of your life. It is a result of the deception of the devil to think otherwise.

Even like God sent salvation to humankind at the fullness of time, He understands your times and He will cause all things in your life to be beautiful in His time.

There is nothing that can happen to you by accident if you love God, because God causes all things to walk together for the good of them that love Him. God has the ability to work His good will through the most unlikely of circumstances; do not let the devil use any circumstance to steal your joy because it is with joy that you draw water from the wells of salvation (see Isaiah 12:3); this water is eternal life; the grace of God empowering you to express God and live victoriously on the earth.

Go into today with the knowing that you belong to God and that He wants the best for you at all times.

Prayer: thank you heavenly father for your great love for me. I pray dear lord that you help me walk constantly in the consciousness of this your love. In Jesus mighty name. Amen.

JUSTIFIED FOR GRACE

Rom 5:1-2

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have* peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

The reason we are justified is because of our faith in Christ Jesus (we have received Him as our savior and lord). Because of this justification we have peace with God. We can now approach the throne of God the father and obtain grace to help us in time of need. Grace is divine enablement and divine life, it is spiritual light; it is a manifestation of eternal life helping us fulfill destiny; living righteous lives before God.

Humans didn’t always have peace with God because we didn’t always have righteousness before Him; we just couldn’t because we were flesh and God is spirit. Flesh always works contrary to spirit (see Gal 5:17) so we were by default at enmity with God. Jesus came to give us right standing with God by being a replacement for our sins and receiving the just recompense for our iniquities upon himself. He now gave us new life in Himself; this life is the life of the spirit and not the life of the flesh again, that is why when a man is born again he is also said to be born of the spirit (see John 3:5,6). Your relationship with God is now based on that new birth you have in the spirit. This is the reason why you can only please God and live the Christian life when you walk in the spirit and not in the flesh.

Go into today determined to walk in the spirit and not in the flesh; let your spirit man control your actions and never your flesh. Let pleasing God and not yourself be your utmost priority.

Prayer: father I thank you for this day you have already made beautiful for me. I pray you help me walk in faith and live by grace. I ask that the Holy Spirit will empower me to deny the flesh today and walk in the spirit. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

We are not like that, Jesus came to give us hope, and this hope is not just wishful thinking, no, this hope is real because He has given us the Holy Spirit of promise as the earnest of our inheritance(see Eph 1:4). We have the Holy Spirit within us who fortifies this hope for us, He is also the one who keeps us intact and preserves us in this Hope of a coming kingdom and dominion of our lord who is the Christ.

What exactly is this hope? This hope we talk about is the knowing inside you that one day, all will be well. Everything in the universe will work according to plan without chaos or shortage of resources, and you know that you will be part of that harmony. On this day, our Lord Jesus will rule and reign as king over the kingdoms of the whole earth and we will reign with Him as kings (see Rev 5:10). This hope not only exists in the life to come but also in this life we are living right now. The Holy Spirit who lives within us makes good things happen to us and restrains the evil one from our lives. He is our seal and guarantee so He does all these great things for us in preserving us for the kingdom.

Go into today thanking God for giving you a hope and a future; you have a glorious destiny.

Prayer: Heavenly father, thank you for your love and grace you have given me and the Holy Spirit you have sent to keep me from the evil one. I pray that I will grow in my fellowship with you in Jesus name. Amen

Eph 2:4-6

.4 But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, 5 that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God's grace that you have been saved!) 6 For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.

Sin brought death to humankind but Christ came and brought life to us. The only reason you have spiritual life is because you are united with Christ who is the source of all life. There is nothing you can do that warrants this life. Let your faith always be in the lord Jesus to sustain you because He is able to keep you and present you before the father blameless.

New rules and regulations cannot ultimately make you closer to God. Let your faith be in the lord Jesus and not in the practice of any rules or regulations. The work of the devil is to attempt to take us back to laws because he knows that is where his power lies since all that is in the domain of the flesh and not the spirit. You obey laws from a decision of the mind and flesh furnished by a cycle of accusations from Satan, you please God walking in faith by the spirit not the flesh (from the power supplied by Christ to your spirit-which is grace) furnished by boldness to God’s throne through the finished work of Christ.

Go into today thankful to the lord for what He did for you on the cross. Thank Him because you are seated with Him in heavenly places far above where Satan can access and know that you have unrestricted access to God’s throne where you obtain mercy and grace to carry you for the week, the month and beyond (see Heb 4:16).

Prayer: My father in heaven, I thank you for your love and mercy. I pray I will see more of you and less of me daily; that I will take up my cross daily and follow you. In Jesus name I pray. Amen
