KNOWING THE LORD 1

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO :

http://bit.ly/1tqIQrD

Hosea 6:3

Let's do our best to know the LORD. His coming is as certain as the morning sun; he will refresh us like rain renewing the earth in the springtime. (CEV)

We know God by revelation. In 2 Peter 1:3, we are told that all that God has given us for living a godly life can only be obtained through the knowledge of Jesus Christ. The reason we must strive to know the Lord is because there are some forces, both external and internal that will contend with us to prevent us from knowing Him.

For instance, it’s easier to talk to a friend on the phone throughout the night than to engage in prayer throughout the night talking to God. One of the most significant adversaries you must face and overcome if you’re to know the Lord is called SELF. If you’re wondering what he looks like, just look in the mirror.

Friends, it takes commitment and some work on our part to know the Lord. And the best place to start this morning is in the place of prayer and the word of God.

Prayer: Dear Lord, as I make this commitment to seek Your face from today, please reveal Yourself to me in a deeper way, amen.

WATCH AND PRAY

LISTEN TO AUDIO :

http://bit.ly/11VlmnM

Matt. 26:41

Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

KJV

The ministry of Jesus was characterized by intense and consistent prayers.

Jesus, although the son of God, overcame all the temptations He encountered because He was consistently watching and praying.

These two words are justly linked together. Watching which means taking heed and constantly checking one's self and stand in God through God's word, is not enough to keep us from falling. Jesus' recommendation is watching and praying.

It's true that a Christian without a consistent prayer and bible study life will fall anytime. (See 1 Cor. 10:12)

Go into today determined to develop a consistent bible study and prayer time, as this is the only way to keep standing.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I ask for the grace to keep watch and to pray daily, in Jesus name amen.

Rom 13:11

And do this because we know the time, that it is already the hour for us to awake from sleep, for our salvation is now nearer than when we became believers. NET

Now is the time to awake and begin to fulfill purpose!

It is not a coincidence that you are in the world at such a time as this. God you put in the earth this moment for a purpose and assignment. Your life is not an accident, your birth may not have been planned by your parents but it was planned and concluded in heaven by God. That is why you have survived this long against all odds.

If you believe in Jesus and have accepted Him as your lord and savior, you are the best thing that is happening to the world right now; you are light in darkness, you are salt in corruption, you are the hope of your generation. GOD has put you here to express His divine nature: His wisdom, glory and His power.

Let your life be propelled by purpose and Divine assignment. This is the only way to live and grow in God's kingdom.

Go into today remembering that God has made sufficient provisions for your vision, if you are in the right position.

Prayer: Thank you heavenly father because you have called me and given me a place in your eternal scheme. I pray you help me position myself rightly and walk in all of your purpose for my life. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

Rom 13:11

And do this because we know the time, that it is already the hour for us to awake from sleep, for our salvation is now nearer than when we became believers. NET

For a long time, as a christian reading the account of the lives of the founding apostles of our faith, I wondered why they were so un-materialistic and did not care much about physical and material comfort even though they could have accumulated so much wealth because of the influence, position and power they had in the early church. I found out it was because they knew something I did not know then, they knew that there was a ‘physical’ kingdom coming to take over the kingdoms of this world and they who are Christ's chosen will rule and reign with Him forever. They saw the first fruits of these things and were patient as they waited for the redemption of their bodies which will reveal their true nature as sons of God( see Rom 8:23) reigning and ruling the earth with Christ.

This is a wake up call to sleeping giants who have forgotten that they already have all things in Christ. Take your place as a son in God's kingdom. Don't be deceived into serving mammon rather than serving Jesus.

Go into today determined to let your light shine so bright that the devil's eyes will be blinded during your day. Let the love, grace and calling of God determine the path your life takes.

Prayer: Thank you heavenly father because you have given me the kingdom. Thank you father because I am fulfilling purpose and destiny in you. Please deliver me from deceptions and distractions, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

Rom 13:11

And do this because we know the time, that it is already the hour for us to awake from sleep, for our salvation is now nearer than when we became believers. NET

Since I gave my life to Christ as a child, I was always reminded that the day of the lord will come anytime (by the day of the lord I mean the day the saints on the earth will be raptured). Many years have passed and that day has not yet come, one thing I know though is that the day is closer today than it was when I first believed.

It is wisdom to always be ready for that day because it will be most unfortunate if that day meets you unprepared. The good news is that God has made all resources available to ensure we are all prepared for that day. It is your choice to walk in grace supplied by the Holy Spirit who now dwells within you if you have accepted Christ as savior and lord of your life. The Holy spirit is a person and Jesus tells us He will teach us and lead us into all truth. We need to have a consciousness of the person of the Holy Spirit within us; this is the key to walking in grace.

Go into today remembering that the grace you need is administered by the Holy Spirit and it is only by this grace that you will be saved at last (raptured).

SPIRITUAL WORDS

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO

Link: http://bit.ly/1C8ax1C

1 Cor 2:13

When we tell you these things, we do not use words that come from human wisdom. Instead, we speak words given to us by the Spirit, using the Spirit's words to explain spiritual truths.*

NLT

Linda tried her best to talk to her local chickens; these were times when she was so lonely and just wanted to talk to someone. There were times when she went to the back of the house and saw those chickens that would only run away when they saw her approaching. She tried several times to have a conversation with them but they would not understand and only run away. She couldn’t understand why they wouldn’t even get some basic words after all these days of trying to teach them…

In the same way, it is only those that are born of the spirit of God that can understand God’s spiritual language. No matter how you try, the words of the kingdom can only be understood by those who are in the kingdom.

The knowledge of the deep things of God is what reveal the keys to the power and wisdom that God has given. Those that can understand these mysteries are those who are mature in the spirit; these are those who have trained themselves to walk in the spirit; they follow the leadings of the spirit and are not controlled by their senses.

Go into today knowing that all grace abounds toward you. Determine to walk in the spirit by giving your spiritual life higher priority today than your flesh.

Prayer: thank you heavenly father for giving me an opportunity of understanding your words. I pray that your word prosper in my life, in Jesus name. Amen

LOVE WITH KNOWLEDGE

image

LISTEN TO AUDIOhttp://bit.ly/11pIMkc

Phil 1:9-10: And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight.

NIV

Fifty people can say they love God and not love to the same extent. This is because love grows with knowledge. Jesus said ‘if you love me, keep my commandments’; meaning, do the things God wants you to do.

The more we grow in God, the more we get to realize we don’t love Him enough. This is because we didn’t know enough of Him and the truth is, we probably never will while on earth (see 1 Cor 13:12). But we ought to chase the knowledge of God because true love of God comes with knowing Him.

Knowing Christ means knowing God. He is the express image of God bodily. Being conformed to His image means being conformed to God’s image. As you grow in this (conforming to the image of Christ through transformation), you will discover depths of God that you never knew.

Go into today determined to know God more, so that you can love him more.

DON’T FORSAKE THE ASSEMBLY

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO : http://bit.ly/1toxEe1

Heb 10:25

We should not stop gathering together with other believers, as some of you are doing. Instead, we must continue to encourage each other even more as we see the day of the Lord coming

ESV

The word ‘Church’ is from the Greek ‘Ekklesia’, which means a gathering of citizens called out from their homes for an assembly; it is an assembly of believers gathered for worship; and also those who anywhere, in a city, village, constitute such a company; as well as the whole body of believers scattered throughout the earth.

It is in the church we stir up one another to love and good works (see Heb 10:24 ESV), fellowship and share with one another, encourage and exhort one another, receive instruction for our building, take steps for the advancement of the faith and conversion of unbelieving friends, and relief for the poor.

Fellowship brings us together and should not be neglected. We should be vibrant in the fold and participative in the gospel cause. We have been called out from the world not just to Christ but also to like-minded believers.

Do not forsake the Assembly, join a church today, you have your own assigned and appointed place in the church which is united with Christ.

PRAYER: Lord, I thank you that you made me a part of your body, the church. I repent for taking this lightly. From today, I would be an active member of the church you’d lead me to, in Jesus Name. Amen

THE PATH OF THE JUST

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO

Prov 4:18

18 But the path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.

NKJV

A farmer demanded that a tree be cut off from his plantation because it was not bearing fruit. His steward prevailed on Him to leave the tree till the next year to see if it would become fruitful (see Luke 13:7-9). This tree had apparent growth, only that it wasn’t bearing fruit. Think about what would have happened to that tree if it was seen to not grow at all in the first place.

The shining light emerges from the darkness at the dawn of the day, and so does the path of the believer (who is just), from the day of his conversion.

This scripture teaches progress in the Christian walk. Fruitfulness in God’s vineyard is critically demanded of us and this happens only when there is healthy growth.

Your fruitfulness as a Christian is the degree of transformation you have undergone which produces a life of holiness and Christlikeness. Fruits are visible virtues the spirit life produces in your character and conduct (see Gal 5:22).

We should give ourselves to the study of the word of God and prayers continuously for our growing and building up in Christ- This is a major key to spiritual growth. We are to keep growing in knowledge, holiness and stewardship until the full day of the Lord comes (Phil 1:6).

Spiritual growth also guarantees spiritual might and power which we desperately need for life and godliness.

Trust the Holy Spirit today for growth in the way you relate with people, in your service to God, in your character, sensitivity in the spirit and understanding of God’s word.

PRAYER: Father, thank you for today. Please help me to give myself continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word, and cause me to grow thereby, in Jesus Name. Amen! (See Acts 6:4)

PAY EVERYONE WHAT IS DUE

Rom 13:7

Pay everyone what is owed: taxes to whom taxes are due, revenue to whom revenue is due, respect to whom respect is due, honor to whom honor is due.

NET

Christians are to be model citizens and never deviant ones. We are to live lives blameless by any reasonable human constitution or law.

Even though our true citizenship is in heaven, we are to represent our kingdom properly by being good ambassadors. We do not get to break the laws of the land or despise them. We of all people understand the function of law and order because we come from a very orderly kingdom. We err and displease God if we fail to deliver on our civic responsibilities.

Go into today determined to be an exemplary citizen in your country. Make sure you don't default in your taxes and other civic responsibilities.

WAITING ON GOD

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO

Matthew 15:32

"Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way". KJV

This verse, clearly explains Isaiah 40:31 "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.....” This implies that strength is drawn from waiting upon the Lord.

Waiting on God means continuing to trust and depend on Him alone, even though you have not yet seen the answer to your prayer.

God is our father, He knows what is good for us and will not let us go away hungry anytime we come to him; yes! He gives strength to fight temptation, wealth to confront poverty and lack, health instead of sickness, and a whole lot of good things to those who wait on Him.

Have you been waiting for so long? Don't be weary for your father in heaven is a compassionate God who will not overlook your patience and labor of love.

Go into today knowing that God will always attend to your needs whenever you truly wait on Him, He is compassionate and will not let you faint.

Prayer: thank you father for your compassion. A I wait upon you for my spiritual and physical needs, I pray you help me find strength and help in your name, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

GUARANTEED SALVATION

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO : http://bit.ly/1wUijUu

Eph 1:14

The Spirit is God's guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.

NLT

I remember buying a laptop from a retailer. The laptop came with a one year guarantee documented on a sheet of paper. This meant that if the laptop developed any fault within the period of a year, I could return it to the retailer and get another one. It so happened that this beautiful laptop I purchased developed a fault within weeks, all I had to do was to go to the retailer with the proof of my guarantee.

The Holy Spirit is our guarantee of the promises God made when we were saved (promises of everlasting life with Him, blessings in heavenly places etc.) As long as He lives in you, you can be sure of your abundant Life and eternal salvation. We need not be afraid whether we would make it. All we need to do is to hold unto our guarantee. Just like an honest retailer cannot turn you away when you have your valid guarantee document, the Lord cannot turn you away when you have the Holy Spirit.

Go into today resolved not to grieve and quench the Holy Spirit; keep that sweet communion you have with Him because as long as He dwells in you, when you die or the rapture happens, He is the one who guarantees your salvation. Remember the foolish virgins didn’t make it because they ran out of oil (see Mat 25:1-12).

Prayer: thank you father for giving me the Holy Spirit because you love me. May I not grieve Him as I go about Life this week, may I experience a new dimension of His power and enablement this week and beyond in Jesus Name. Amen

A THOUGHT ON PRAYER

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO

Audio link: http://bit.ly/1uI0gE0

1Ti 2:1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

Wesley Duewel in his book “Touch the world through prayer” writes: ‘God alerted us to intercede and at the very time of danger spared the lives of my parents to many more years of ministry. Thereafter, when I hear that a valuable servant of God has been killed in an accident, I ask myself: ‘who failed to pray ?.’

In the passage for today, the Lord instructs that we should pray, petition, intercede and give thanks for everyone. I believe we are called to spend more time praying for others than we should for ourselves. Imagine the lives that would have been spared, how many disasters would have been averted if someone somewhere offered that word of prayer when the Holy Spirit laid it on his/her heart. Perhaps you are that person.

Friends, pray for everyone you come across today. Pray for school children, transporters, drivers, traffic wardens, soldiers, bankers, neighbours and all those you will see on TV or read about in newspapers.

Prayer: Heavenly father, pour upon me the spirit of grace and of supplication as I go about my business for today, in Jesus name. Amen.

THE NAME JESUS

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO

Audio Link: http://bit.ly/1EOdqAS

Phil 2:10

At the mention of the name of Jesus every knee should bow of things in heaven and things in earth

KJV

Looking through the bible closely, one would realize that the name Jesus is not taken likely. The bible says in Phil 2 v 9 that God highly exalted Him (the son) and gave him a name above every other name. Jesus talking to His disciples said "whatsoever you ask in my name that will I do."

Surprisingly we see that nowadays the name of Jesus has become something like an exclamation in many mouths, we say the name when we are surprised, shocked, and as a mere closing phrase for our prayers. But the name Jesus should mean much more to us. There is power in the name and as such it should be said deliberately and consciously.

Go into today knowing that the Name of the Lord is powerful, a lifeline, a tower for the righteous and no ordinary name.

Prayer: Lord Jesus I thank you because whatsoever I ask in your name I shall receive.

THE PATH OF TRUE WISDOM 2

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO

Job 28: 7-8

7 There is a path which no fowl knoweth, and which the vulture's eye hath not seen: 8 The lion's whelps have not trodden it, nor the fierce lion passed by it.

NET

I have noticed that it is not always the most talented that is celebrated, it is not always the strongest that reigns, King Solomon also clearly pointed out this fact (see Eccl 9:11). Wisdom is the principal thing and this wisdom is what takes a man to the place of his destiny.

The fear of God is the key to this wisdom because the fear of God makes us obey God's commandments and live according to His principles; these principles are wisdom. Obedience to God who created and orders the universe is the secret to walking in success because when you do things according to God's principle, His creation will work to favor you. A man who walks according to God's will walks in the way that causes spiritual and physical forces and energies to work in his favor. The earth will not vomit such a man but will work to favor him.

Go into today determined to live your life in the fear of God; let everything you do and say be according to His will, and see a greater dimension of God’s grace and glory.

Prayer: Dear lord, I ask that you help me live my life according to your will. I ask that I will see a greater dimension of your glory in my life from today, in Jesus name. Amen

THE PATH OF TRUE WISDOM 1

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO

Job 28: 7-8

7 There is a path which no fowl knoweth, and which the vulture's eye hath not seen: 8 The lion's whelps have not trodden it, nor the fierce lion passed by it.

NET

The king of the animal kingdom is the lion. Our text reveals that the great and mighty of this world do not know the path talked about here. Knowing this path is not a function of strength or might. We see from further reading Job 28 (see verse 12,13) that the path talked about is the path of true wisdom. This kind of wisdom is creative and it builds up.

I've defined wisdom as that attribute in a man that makes him able to actualize his goals or visions. The bible says through wisdom is a house built(Prov 24:3), but the kind of wisdom we are talking about here is not the inferior one that can only build physical and temporal things but the one that also builds things of eternal value.

In verse 28, God himself shows us the key to this Wisdom, which is to fear Him. The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom (see Psalm 111:10). The fear of the lord means you have a God consciousness at all times and you fear to displease Him. This begins with first believing that God exists and that He constantly watches over you, and then you do not want to displease Him in anything you do. We shall examine tomorrow how the fear of the lord produces wisdom.

Go into today with a renewed consciousness that God watches over every moment of your life and He is always on your side.

Prayer: Thank you heavenly father for this day. I pray you empower me to live every moment of my life under your authority, in Jesus name. Amen

TIME OF YOUTH 3

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO

1Ti 4:12 Don't let anyone make fun of you, just because you are young. Set an example for other followers by what you say and do, as well as by your love, faith, and purity.

You see, in the world today, people, especially young people, are looking for people who will model this ideal type of life hinged on moral absolutes. And God is the source of all moral absolutes. People are tired of hearing the word, they want to see the word. Are there still young people who can really model the life of Christ? Many young people who are lost today, and dying are looking for such.

Now, Paul says “model the life of Christ in speech, conduct, in love, faith and purity”. As a young believer who wants to show others the way through your lifestyle, you must not talk anyhow. The purpose of your speech must be to impart grace to and edify your hearers. This is how Jesus would speak, but they ain’t seeing Jesus, they’re seeing you. How do you behave both inside and outside, because who you are on the inside will eventually reflect on the outside no matter how long you try to hide. Don’t forget, they’re ain’t seeing Him, they’re seeing you.

Represent Him well.

Prayer: Dear Lord, may people see Jesus in me today as I leave my bed and go around my activities for today, amen.

TIME OF YOUTH 2

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO

(1Ti 4:12) Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

From Paul’s instruction to Timothy, we notice that it is within the power as a young person to (or not to) give people an opportunity to despise his or her youthfulness. As a young person, the thing that will give you self-worth and obliterate any chances of your youthfulness being despised is integrity. Once you sell out your integrity for anything, the resultant effect is that you will be despised. Dare to be a Daniel, be a person of integrity. If you lead a double lifestyle or possess a split personality, God will not grant you His abiding presence, and man will despise you especially if you claim you’re a Christian. In other words, who you are in church must be the same with the ‘you’ at work or at home.

Dear friend, keep your shoulder high as a young person and stand up for what you believe. 2 Timothy 1:13. Refuse to compromise and no man will despise your youth.

Prayer: Dear Lord, please help me today to be a worthy ambassador of your kingdom as I determine in my heart not to defile myself, help me to be a Daniel in my time, amen.

TIME OF YOUTH 1

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO : http://bit.ly/10XusPG

1Timothy 4:12 “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”

KJV

First of all, your being young does not warrant anyone to downgrade, look down on or despise you. Paul advised Timothy not just to be proud of that phase of his life, but also to make the most of it. Don’t let anyone despise you or make you feel bad just because you are young, inspite of where you are coming from. Your background does not in any way disqualify you for the kind of future God has planned for you. Carry a healthy self-image or self-esteem. See yourself through the eyes of God.

One of the ways to make the most of your youthfulness is by discovering who you are in God. Once you have an insight into God’s purpose for your life as a young person, and you start walking and working towards that purpose, nobody will be able to despise you or treat you as unimportant because you are young.

Go into today determined to serve God with your youthful strength and zeal. Identify things God has been laying on your heart and begin to do them from today.

Prayer: Father, thank you for my youthfulness, please help me use it for your glory in Your dear Son’s name, Jesus our Lord, amen.

PATIENCE: OUR JOURNEY THROUGH HOPE

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO

Audio Link: http://bit.ly/1tWAN8g

Rom 8:25

But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

Patience as different from longsuffering (which is restraint and tolerance or slowness in avenging wrongs) is according to Thayer’s Greek Definitions, the characteristic of a man who is not swerved from his deliberate purpose and his loyalty to faith and piety by even the greatest trials and sufferings. Patience can be best understood as patient continuance (Rom 2:7)

There is the instantaneous work of grace that we have access to by faith in the new birth. But there is also our progressive walk that is through patience in the hope of our calling - the fullness of our inheritance and our promised reward.

In anticipation of that which we hope for, it is expedient we remain steadfast in our confession, our relationship and lives as children of God. Jesus said “blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing” (Mat 24:46). It is with patience that we remain faithful and righteous, whether in tribulation or in rejoicing, sun or rain, day or night. And it is with patience that we continue in the word, endure till the end and overcome (see: John 8:31, Mt 24:13, Rev 2:26)

Go into today maintaining your conviction as a Christian; with the understanding that with patience, nothing is able to shake you from your stance in God (Rom 8:35-39). Your portion is from victory to victory.

PRAYER: Lord, with all diligence, I add to my faith, patience. Help me to hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of my hope firm unto the end in Jesus name. Amen

KEEP THE GOAL IN SIGHT

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO

Audio Link: http://bit.ly/1tRtOgT

Rom 15:4

For everything that was written in former times was written for our instruction, so that through endurance and through encouragement of the scriptures we may have hope.

NET

I have noticed that on the football field, what keeps the players playing so hard is the hope that they will score goals. Take that hope away and you've taken strength from the players.

Christians who have lost their hope are bound to be defeated. Hope is what fuels faith ; faith and hope fuels love which is the greatest manifestation of a God consciousness.

Jesus endured the cross despising the shame in patience because of the hope that He had; the joy that was set before Him. This is the same way we can overcome temptations and trials, when we look unto Jesus; making Him our example and putting the hope of our destination always before us.

Go into today determined to walk always in the light of the hope for which you are called. Know that God has a great plan for you both in this age and the one to come and your day to day life before Him is getting you there.

Prayer: Thank you heavenly Father for your great love that is making me light in my generation; bringing glory to your name. I pray you help me always never lose sight of the goal, in Jesus name. Amen

PRAY FOR JERUSALEM

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO

Audio Link: http://bit.ly/1ss3tDf

Psalm 122:6

pray for Jerusalem; they shall prosper that love thee.

Once I saw a bird perched on a rope, because the rope was tiny and dangling, the bird also dangled and was seriously uncomfortable.

Nigeria is my Jerusalem; your country is your own Jerusalem. It is in the peace of your country that you find peace as typified by the bird on the dangling rope. Jeremiah 29:7b reads "for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace". For effective evangelism we need peace, for our country's economy to grow we need peace. It therefore becomes necessary that we pray for the peace of our country. We cannot shy away from this; it is our responsibility to carry our nations to God in prayers.

Go into today determined to spend time praying for peace in your country.

Prayer:Tank God for your country. Pray for peace in your country.

Pray that the light of the gospel of Christ will shine even brighter.

Pray for the leaders and the led and for the growth of your country's economy.

HIS FACE BRINGS HIS HANDS

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO

Link: http://bit.ly/1uJu70O

Matt. 22:37

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

KJV

God created man so that He can have an intimate fellowship with man.

A good number of Christians today serve God because of His hands (blessings) and not necessarily because they love Him and seek HIS FACE. God is actually searching for people who will serve Him not because they want to receive from Him or go to heaven, but because they love Him (See Deut. 10:9).

Those who get to really see His hands (his benefits; blessings) are those who truly seek His face.

Many Christians fear being without money more than they fear being without God; we fear the rejection of man more than we fear God. But ‘He that loves father or mother or pleasures more than Me (Jesus) is not worthy of Me’. (See Matt. 10: 37, 2 Tim 3:2-4).

Go into today with the desire to seek His face (loving Him) rather than just seeking His hands (blessings). Seek the giver and not the gift. Determine today to know more of your father in heaven and have a closer relationship with Him.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to love You more than anything else; to be more interested in You than Your blessings, in Jesus name I pray. Amen.

FAITHFUL WITH ASSIGNMENTS

LISTEN TO AUDIO

Audio link: http://bit.ly/1xmuf3m

Text: Matt 25:14-30

To one he gave five talents of money… EACH ACCORDING TO HIS ABILITY. Then he went on his journey. NIV.

Now, the Lord is asking ‘what have you done with the little I gave you?’

At His appearance we will see Him (see 1Jn5:16) Then He'll ask: What have you done for me; what do you have with you, how much have you conquered? Excuses will He not welcome, reasons for failure will not please Him, hindrances, trials and temptations will be no excuse; so what do you have? What are you doing with what He gave you? He really will not ask for what he had not given you, He'll simply ask what you have done with that which He gave you?

Go into today determined to practically touch a life with that which God has given you. Do not hoard your resources for you'll account for them. You can start today by broadcasting this Devotional to your Contacts and sharing His word.

Prayer: Dear Lord, forgive my past carelessness. Lord, please help me to live my life doing what you have called me to do, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

UNDIVIDED DEVOTION

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO

Audio Link: http://bit.ly/1AlEJp9

1 Co 7:32,35

I want you to be free from anxieties…I say this for your own benefit, not to lay any restraint upon you, but to promote good order and to secure your undivided devotion to the Lord.

ESV

Should that which God blesses us with become the cause of our own undoing? God forbid! The blessings of the Lord adds no sorrow (see Prov 10:22).

Paraphrasing 1 Cor 7:32-34 ESV: “…The unmarried man is concerned about the things of the Lord, how to please the Lord. But when he gets married, he becomes anxious about worldly things, how to please his wife and his interests are divided...” Sad to say, this is the case with so many a believer. Before that long-awaited job prayerfully came through, they were all about the work of God, would not absent from fellowship; but for the job, the story changes.

From scriptures, God rewards faithfulness to a responsibility with more responsibilities besides other blessings (see Mt 13:12; 25:29). So When God blesses you, see it as a privilege to do more and not an excuse to do less. The good things of this life should not distract us in our service and devotion to God. When we make our eye single to the Lord, our devotion would always be to our Lord and Him only, whether in the absence or presence of his blessings (see Mt 6:22)

Go into today, determined to please God in all things and without distractions.

PRAYER: Father, in the name of Jesus, I choose to serve you with my whole heart. I will not be distracted. You are my source and my ultimate, my joy and my satisfaction.

WHERE ARE YOUR FRUITS

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO: http://bit.ly/1zu7RJx

2Thess 1:3

We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;

KJV

One profound blessing and proof of life as revealed in the scriptures is fruitfulness (see Gen 1:28)

The brethren the apostle was writing to were actually the fruits of his work – those he had begotten through the gospel. Here, in Thessalonica, Apostle Paul had nurtured them to become brethren – associates: their faith had grown and was still growing and their love abounded more and more. What Testimony!

How did he get this result? Firstly, He did not keep his mouth shut – He preached the gospel to them (see Rom 1:16); He did not relent in prayers – He travailed, until Christ was formed in them (see Gal 4:19); He did not leave them orphans – Even while he was afar off, he appointed elders to oversee them and He followed up on their progress; He would not permit any to be lost to the evil one – He watched.

Where are your Fruits? For some, they have none, while for others, they have neglected theirs. Go into today, determined by the Spirit, to make that vacant land a fruitful field, and that fruitful field a forest ( see Isa 32:15)

PRAYER: I declare today that I am productive. I multiply! I do not bury the gospel; with it, I raise a righteous generation unto the Lord in Jesus name. Amen

OBEYING THE WORD YOU KNOW

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO

1 Sam 15:22

But Samuel replied: "Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.

NIV

Once you can understand the scripture, you can hear from God. But what do we actually do with what we hear? From the verse above we know that Saul had instructions from God and he disobeyed and tried to cover it up with sacrifices, but he was rejected.

God loves obedience not delayed or compromised obedience but complete obedience. Once you hear from God, you have an obligation to do what you have heard. We don’t necessarily need a loud voice or a prophet to tell us what God is saying. There are instructions all over the bible, we must follow these instructions. When we follow instructions, we draw closer to God; to his heart. God’s words are his will and whoever does the will of God is favored by God. So once you know what to do, you have to take action and do what you know.

Go into today ready to follow the instructions given by your heavenly father. If there is something the lord has been laying on your heart to do, now is the time to do it.

Prayer: Dear lord, please give me an obedient heart and a contrite spirit. Give me grace to do your will. in Jesus name I pray. Amen

UNDERSTANDING THE WORD OF GOD

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO

Audio Link: http://bit.ly/1tZOC8v

Job 32:8

8 But it is the spirit in a man, the breath of the Almighty that gives him understanding.

NIV

We must realize that the bible is not just a book, it is sacred words inspired by the Holy Spirit and can only truly be interpreted by the Holy Spirit.

Your bible might be written in English but it is only understood by men of the spirit. Whenever we read or study the bible, we must let our spirit man do the interpretation; that’s when we truly begin to see the truth behind the scriptures.

The bible says “lean not on your own understanding” ( see Prov 3:5), that means your mind, cleverness or how smart you are is not sufficient to understand the bible if the Holy Spirit doesn’t help you.

Next time you study your bible, first ask God for divine understanding of the scriptures and he will open your eyes to new things.

Prayer: Dear Holy Spirit, please give me understanding of your word that goes beyond my understanding, in Jesus mighty name. Amen

THE WILL OF GOD

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO

Audio Link: http://bit.ly/1o3b5iU

Eph 5:17

Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

KJV

The will of God is His fixed and persistent intent or purpose, which is made known in His Word and our daily work with the Holy Spirit. And it always stands because it is founded on immutable and eternal forces: His purpose (or perfect design), His counsel (or sure judgment) and His volition (or eternal will) (see Isa 46:10-11, Eph 1:11).

All of existence takes bearing from God’s will because the world was formed and is and continues to be according to His word - His will (see Heb 1:3). Hence, not following after the will of God is the greatest folly, because it means kicking against the pricks and deflecting from the ordained course, which of course, has grave consequences (see Is. 41:12, Acts 26:14, Is 31:1-3). But it is wisdom to understand and do the will of God, as you would be propelled by the greatest force in the universe; for all things were fashioned to move in the direction of God’s will - be it the rotation of the earth or your career pursuits.

Go into today, seeking to know God’s purpose and counsel for your life; relationships, career and eternal destination, and walk in it.

PRAYER: Father, I thank you that your will for mankind is not hidden, I align myself with your word and your spirit in all that concerns me in Jesus name. Amen

BLESS AND DON’T CURSE

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO

Rom 12:14

14 Bless those who persecute you, bless and do not curse.

I used to believe that we Christians have the power to curse those who have really hurt us. The truth is that we have such powers but we in the new covenant are not to use this power to curse because the spirit that operates in us is one of mercy. There are spiritual principles here I would love us to look at: When someone offends you and you forgive the person, you are behaving indeed like your father in heaven and you are showing that you understand His grace and mercy towards you - this is the only condition Jesus gave for receiving forgiveness from God when we repent. There are curses that satan will want to afflict us with because of our shortcomings but God does not let that happen because we are His sons indeed; we forgive and do not curse others who have hurt us as well.

Again, when we curse people who hurt us, we are judging them already because those curses are a form of judgment for their wicked actions. But our lord says we should not judge (see Luke 6:37); that we should consent judgment to God. God indeed judges and His judgment is the most just and most soothing.

Go into today determined to use the power that God has put in your tongue to build up and not tear down; begin to decree into existence those your desires you mentioned to God yesterday.

Prayer: Thank you heavenly father because you are the lord of my life and my judge. I pray you help me walk in your perfect will every day; that blessings shall radiate out of me, in Jesus name I pray. Amen
