Galatians 5:1 (KJV)
Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

God through his servant Paul in Galatians 5:1 admonishes us to stand fast in the freedom by which Christ has made us free. But many times we enslave ourselves yet again to the yoke, load and burden of sin along with its damaging consequences.

The unfortunate reality is that all men after Adam are born into this condition of being in burden and in condemnation (Romans 3:12, 23). On the contrary, God in His love, wants us to be totally free from the yoke of slavery and He did it through the greatest substitute in the person of Jesus Christ who took our place as a servant and bore our yoke in exchange for our freedom (Isaiah 52:13-15, Isaiah 53:2-5, 7-10). Therefore as a warning, willfully carrying this load even after being relieved, or worse still, ignoring that someone else has offered to carry it on our behalf can make a man not to enjoy his rights with its associated benefits here on earth, slow his upward progress, scar or damage his testimony and make him end up missing out on eternal life.

Go into today knowing that the way to stand fast in the liberty wherewith Christ has made you free is by walking in the Spirit (see Gal 5:16): Living a Holy Spirit controlled life.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to teach you to walk in the Spirit at all times.

Prayer for the sick in the audio

Romans 8:13 (KJV)
13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

Azubike observed that he became spiritually stronger and able to resist temptations when he became filled with the Holy Spirit. This was not the case with him before. He lived a miserable Christian life because he was lacking spiritual strength and would fall into temptations from time to time. He was so excited that for the first time in his life, he knew he had the strength to say ‘no’ to the temptations that always made him trip over. He now wanted to do all things possible to make sure he remained filled with the Holy Spirit.

The only way to successfully mortify (and not merely suspend) the works of the flesh is through the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit does not only fill our hearts, He also quickens our mortal bodies when He fills us (see Rom 8:11). This means He gives strength to our mortal bodies and empowers us to walk in the will of God.

When a believer walks in a defiled conscience, he cannot freely have fellowship with the Lord through His Spirit, and thus he progressively becomes weaker because grace is supplied and multiplied through our fellowship with the Lord (2 Pet 1:2). The devil works overtime to tempt believers into sin, so that their consciences can be defiled, and they will no longer walk in [fellowship with] the Spirit.

Go into today knowing that you cannot overcome the flesh by the power of the soul [through rules and regulations]. You can only put to death the works of the flesh by the power of the Spirit.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to fill you with the Holy Spirit (Read Luke 11:13).
Pray in the Spirit for at least 15 minutes.

Romans 8:9 (KJV)
But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

When you became born again, you received the Lord Jesus as your personal Lord and savior. It meant you now allowed the Lord to rule your life through His Holy Spirit that was now within you.

If a person claims to be born again, but does not submit to the Lordship of Christ over his life, that person is a baby Christian at best, or is not born again at all. Now, being a baby Christian should be a very temporal state in the life of a believer because it is a very dangerous place to remain as a believer. This is the reason why a believer can still be under the oppression and authority of demons and demonic circles and patterns may still find expression in his life.

Every believer has the Holy Spirit, and the Kingdom of God is administered in his life through the Holy Spirit. The most important mark of being a believer is the Holy Spirit living within you. The Holy Spirit dwells in you and administers the kingdom and government of God within you. He controls you, teaches you, counsels you and comforts you. He intercedes for you with groaning’s that cannot be uttered (see Rom 8:26). He is the earthly executor of the heavenly ministry of Christ; He appropriates everything that Christ is to you and for you.

Go into today knowing that you cannot be a Christian without the Holy Spirit, you can only be a religious legalist void of the life and power of God that produces true holiness.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to fill you with the Holy Spirit again. Ask God to help you always remain in the sweet fellowship of the Holy Spirit (see 2 Cor 13:14). Amen.

Philippians 1:21-24 (NET)
For to me, living is Christ and dying is gain.
Now if I am to go on living in the body, this will mean productive work for me, yet I don’t know which I prefer: I feel torn between the two, because I have a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far, but it is more vital for your sake that I remain in the body.

Dozie used to be very sickly. He was always on very expensive medication.
He attended a youth conference and discovered that life as a believer meant living for the purpose of Christ. He decided that he was henceforth going to live for Christ and fulfill his God-given assignment. With the help of God, he discovered God’s assignment for him per season and did his best to fulfill it.

Over time, Dozie observed that he was no longer sickly was no more needing those expensive drugs to survive. He knew he was now walking in divine health. And he later found out that this was because he was now living for Christ.

In the Bible verses above, we see Apostle Paul deciding whether he was ready to die or whether he wanted to keep on living. It is clear from this that Apostle Paul’s life was not at the mercy of anybody or of any disease.

But what was Paul’s secret? Why did he have such control over his life and was the one to decide when he would die?

Paul had such great control over life because he lived for Christ. That is what he meant when he said ‘living is Christ’.

Go into today remembering that believers launch into their orbit of power when they stop living for themselves and start living for Christ (see 2 Cor 5:15).

Philippians 4:8 (NET)
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of respect, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if something is excellent or praiseworthy, think about these things.

Bidemi had spent 35 Minutes singing and thanking the Lord. Her food on the oven-stove burnt before she realized she had taken so long thanking the Lord and counting her blessings. She observed that the joy of the Lord had filled her heart again, and she felt great strength and might in her spirit. The Holy Spirit filled her and she began to prophesy concerning future. That was when she knew she was going to have five children.

She also remembered to bind every evil power working against her joy, and she knew they were indeed bound.

She conceived the next month.

Many times, believers lose out because they allow their hearts to be heavy and devoid of joy. When a believer is heavy and depressed, he cannot be Spirit-filled at the same time. The devil knows this, so he sends thoughts and imaginations to make believers sad and heavy. There are many people in this world under his control, so he also uses them. But we have been empowered to resist him (see James 4:7).

The life of God you have within you is superior. It has the ability to overcome the world (1 John 5:4). Because of this, you can remain joyful no matter what is happening around you. You can also bring your environment into subjection to the will of God when you are filled with the Holy Spirit.

Go into today knowing that Spirit-filled Christians are joyful and thankful Christians.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you always rejoice in Him and keep your heart stayed on Him and not on your challenges.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of respect, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if something is excellent or praiseworthy, think about these things.

After several months of marriage, Bidemi had not conceived and she now became really worried. She started imagining all kinds of negative things. She heard that those who had committed abortion might have damaged their wombs and may never conceive. She was particularly worried because she had had two abortions while an unbeliever.

She was also worried because she felt it could be her stepmother's curse at work. She forgot that her stepmother said she would never marry, but she was now happily married to a man who truly loved her. He was the one encouraging her and telling her that nothing was wrong with her. He said that even if her womb was damaged, God would restore it.

One day, as she went through her old sermon notes, she remembered something she had learned long ago. It was a sermon centered on Philippians 4:8. She remembered she came out of circles of depression and oppression after she had listened to that sermon and decided to always focus her mind on the good in her life. She remember she became spiritually strong and started walking in perpetual victory after receiving that message.

She repented and decided to start thanking the Lord for all the good in her life. This is how joy filled her heart again.

The more you focus on your challenges, the bigger they become. But the more you focus on the Lord and what He is doing in your life, the smaller your challenges become, and the stronger you become to overcome them.

Ask the Lord to help you always focus on Him and what He is doing in your life.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of respect, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if something is excellent or praiseworthy, think about these things.

For the first time in her life, Bidemi was happy and contented. She did not realize how much she had grown spiritually until she started to remember how her life used to be, even after she had become a believer. She remembered that she became happier as a person when she stopped fixing her mind on things that were not going well in her life and started thanking the Lord for the things that were going well in her life.

When a believer spends his time thinking about the things that are not going well in his life, he will naturally be a sad person. And this means he would not walk in the fruit of the Spirit of joy. Because of this, he would be spiritually weak because the joy of the Lord is your strength (Neh 8:10). It is with joy that you draw water from the Wells of salvation (Isaiah 12:3).

The devil knows that if you lose your joy and become heavy, your spirit will be weak and it will become easier for you to fall into temptations.

Go into today remembering that what you allow your mind dwell on is very important. It is important that you remain joyful because the Joy of the Lord is your strength. Do not let your heart dwell on negative thoughts, but always remember to thank the Lord for what He has done and what He will do.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you always fix your heart on the things that He approves (see Phil 4:8).

Philippians 4:6-7 (NET)
Do not be anxious about anything. Instead, in every situation, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, tell your requests to God. And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
-Also read Psalm 34:4

When Bidemi found out that her stepmother had tried to destroy her engagement with the things she told her fiancé, she became very angry. She lost control and acted temporarily in the flesh.

‘You are a wicked witch. You want to ruin my life the way you ruined the lives of your daughters. God will not allow you. Shame on you wicked witch.’

Her stepmother was deeply grieved by the harsh things Bidemi said, because they seemed true. Her own daughters who were older than Bidemi were still at home and were not yet married, yet here was Bidemi about to marry a very successful young man. Envy and hatred filled her heart, and she determined that Bidemi was the enemy who stole the glory of her daughters; therefore Bidemi will never know peace.

Bidemi had acted in the flesh and she knew it. She knew she was not supposed to respond the way she did. The next day, she apologized to her stepmother. But her step mother wouldn’t receive an apology. She cursed Bidemi and said she would never ever marry or know peace.

Bidemi was afraid because of the strange curses her stepmother uttered. So she went back to the Lord and asked Him to deliver her from all her fears. Peace came into her heart and she was no longer afraid. She eventually got married in good time and had a happy life.

Go into today remembering that whenever you are troubled in your heart concerning any issue, bring it to the Lord in prayer. The way you will know that you have prayed through is when the peace of the Lord fills your heart and your heart is no more troubled.

Matthew 7:17,19 (NKJV)
17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

Many religious groups and cults like the idea of walking in love. Some of them talk about loving one another and even have bumper stickers that talk above walking in love. But while they talk about love and love the idea of walking in love, they do not have the ability to walk in true love for one another. They do not have the ability to overcome human selfishness. They tell lies to one another and do not truly have unconditional love for one another. This is because they are not born of God. A bad tree cannot produce good fruit. It is only those who have been fathered by God that have the ability to walk in true unconditional love for one another.

Love is a fruit. It is a product of the renewed heart. It is the greatest proof that a person is born of God. This fruit is peculiar to only God’s children alone. It is our greatest advertisement to the world, both the dark powers of this world and the people operating under them (see John 13:35).

When a believer is fruitful, it means he bears the fruit the Spirit. This means by the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, he walks in love.

If you have received Christ Jesus as your Lord, You have been made good because you have been born of God.

Go into today thanking the Lord for empowering you to walk in His divine nature of love. Thank the Lord because you are a good tree and will never be cast into the fire.

2 Peter 2:1-2 (NASB)
But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves. 2 Many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned.

When Bidemi and her Fiancé traveled home to see her parents, her stepmother found a way of letting him know that Bidemi was not a legitimate child. She also told him that Bidemi was pregnant when she was 16 and aborted it. Unknown to her stepmother, Bidemi and her intended had no secrets between them, so her wicked plot did not work.

Bidemi’s stepmother was a leader in their church. She was very committed to the church, but she was not truly a Christian. This was not entirely her fault, it was the fault of the false teachers that they had in their church.

Because of her stepmother, it was innitially very difficult for Bidemi to accept the Lord Jesus. She thought Christians were like her stepmother. But thank God she had the opportunity of meeting real Christians later in her life.

False doctrines usually have many followers because they are usually more appealing to the flesh and to the carnal believer.

Go into today remembering that the easiest way to identify false prophets and false teachers is by their fruits (see Matthew 7:15). The fruit of a person’s life is his character and his integrity. The fruit of a ministry is the quality of disciples produced through that ministry. If you observe that most of the members of a particular ministry you know are bankrupt in morality and integrity, please stay away from that ministry.

1 Peter 5:7 (KJV)
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

The will of God for man is for him to make it on this life's journey and into His kingdom. Many, even after having being saved are still carrying unwanted loads. These are huge bags designed by The devil with its major brand "sin" alongside so many brands such as guilt, depression, sickness, worry, poverty etc. The effect of these heavy loads in a man's life are:
  1. He has a slow movement.
  2. His progress is laborious with very little achievements both physically and spiritually.
  3. He does not fulfill his purpose as he is constantly weighed down (Mark 4:19).

God through the death of His son brought us total freedom from the main load of sin and death and has left for man the choice to either be free or remain burdened by this heavy load. Contrary to the old man who was subjected against his will to carry heavy load, Christ Jesus when he died on the cross broke that force of subjection. The compelling force of sin was destroyed by Jesus Christ's death on the cross and so man is set free.
At salvation, that slave master who is Satan was defeated and his bonds enabled by sin has been broken. However, the decision to stop carrying items of slavery depends on man and the state of his mind (renewed mind Romans 12:2, Colossians 3:10).

In Galatians 5:1, God admonishes us to stand fast in the freedom by which Christ has made us free.
As you go into the day, ask the Lord to help you stand fast in the freedom which Christ has already paid for.

Confession: Because the Son has set me free, I am free indeed. I am an agent of freedom and liberty, in Jesus name. Amen.

1 John 4:7 (KJV)
Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

Bidemi knew that her stepmother hated her, and before she became born again, she too hated her step mother.

As Bidemi grew in her walk with the Lord, one day she noticed that the hatred and bitterness she had towards her step mother was no longer there. She now found it easy to pray for her. She prayed that the Lord would save her and make her his child. Bidemi could not believe that she no longer hated her step mother but now only felt pity for her. After this breakthrough in her life, Bidemi observed that her doors started opening on every side. The young man who loved her but was too poor to marry her now got a very good job and was immediately ready to marry her.

Bidemi’s doors opened when her spirit started radiating the superior power of love. The power released in the life of a believer that walks in love is greater than the power released in the life of a believer who only knows faith without practical love.

Notice that 1 John 4:7 says that ‘anyone that loves is born of God and KNOWS GOD’. Knowing God is a function of spiritual maturity. One of the attributes of baby Christians is that they do not walk in love (see 1 Cor 3:1-3). But as they grow in the knowledge of God, they would naturally grow in love.

Go into today remembering that that the ability to love without expecting anything in return, and to love even your enemies, can only be found in the life of those who are born of God and know God. The presence of this love in your heart is your biggest proof that you have indeed been fathered by God (See 1 John 3:18-19).

Ephesians 1:5-6 (KJV)
Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

Bidemi grew up with a feeling of worthlessness and insecurity because she was an illegitimate child, and her stepmother made sure she understood that. Because of this, she would react harshly to situations and would be very rude and difficult to communicate with. She always felt like she was in a deep dark pit, and could amount to nothing in life. But this all changed when accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. For the first time in her life, she knew she was accepted. She no longer felt like her life was a mistake, she knew God had a purpose for creating her, and she was happy to be alive.

One thing we must never forget as believers is that God accepted us before we accepted Him, that is why we could accept him. Your salvation was not your own idea; it was God’s idea before you were born. This knowledge will help you rest in God’s love. It is very important that believers are grounded in the love of God.

Many times, before the devil can get a believer to fall, he will first get him to doubt the love that God has for him. This he does because he knows the power the knowledge of God’s love produces in the life of the believer.

Ephesians 3:19 (NLT)
May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Go into today remembering that you are beloved of God. You are accepted in His beloved family.

John 14:23 (NLT)
Jesus replied, "All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them.

When you love someone and are married to that person, you build a home with that person.

A home is not necessarily a house, so it is made and not just bought. You would agree with me that a person or even a house can be described as being homely. A home is the product of a union, decorated with fruits as a proof of that union. Our union with Christ is sure to produce and bear much fruit (John 15:4-8, Galatians 5:22-26). Therefore, certain things we classify as home breakers should be removed or crucified. They include the Flesh with its affections and lusts. Sexual immorality, lust, and the likes are leading and major ways behind broken relationships.

So it is with our relationship with God. If we give in to our lusts, we bear the risk of sabotaging our fruitfulness. In Job 31:1-12, we see the consequence of this likened to a fire that burns to destruction, capable of uprooting our harvest or fruits of labor in God.
Go into today remembering that we are married to Jesus and must refrain from prostituting ourselves to sin.

Galatians 5:24 (NET)
Now those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

What does the Bible verse above really mean? What does it mean to belong to Christ?

When you became born again, you needed to accept that Jesus is Lord. What this meant is that you accepted the Lordship of Christ over your life. It meant you now brought yourself under the authority and government of Christ, and you now belong to Him because He is now your Lord. Lord also means owner.

It is only those who have accepted Christ's Lordship that will experience His power of salvation. Those who have not yet accepted His Lordship cannot receive His salvation.

One of the signs that a person has accepted the Lordship of Christ is that they repent and stop doing the things that they know their Lord does not want. Repentance is always proof that a person has truly believed and received the Lordship of Christ.

We enter into God’s salvation and kingdom by faith, but this faith has to be living and not dead faith. Any faith that does not produce works (obedience to the kingdom of Christ) is dead faith (See James 2:14-20).

When you believe that Jesus is Lord, it means you accept His Lordship over your life. This acceptance will regulate your life according to His word. It will make you crucify the flesh with its passions and desires. The Holy Spirit empowers you to do this.
Only those who live the crucified life experience the reality of His Lordship. They are the ones who truly reap the benefits of belonging to Christ.

Go into today remembering that believing in the Lord Jesus means bringing your life under His lordship and authority, it means you receiving Him. When this happens, you will walk in the power of a son of God (see John 1:12).

John 14:21 (KJV)
He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

A successful and great way of showing you have deep love for someone you are married to is by respecting and taking their word very seriously (1 John 2:5 KJV). The word "Keepeth" has a deep meaning. It is used in context of hiding something valuable for safekeeping (Psalm 119:11). What you treasure is what you keep. The heart therefore is the safebox where our treasures are kept (Matthew 6:21) and we know that the Rhema Word of God (Proverbs 8:11, 1 Peter 2:6-7) and of His Kingdom are treasures (Matthew 12:35).

Treasures are such that you tend to think about them all the time. You feel threatened if an intruder comes near it and so you monitor movements around the area where the safe is (Proverbs 4:23) because it can be stolen if not properly guarded. Yes, it means we have the responsibility of monitoring and instantly dealing with any suspicious movements around our safe (filtering thoughts we allow to take root in our hearts). Like doors to a safebox, there should be a check. Therefore as password is to safebox access, so is the written Word (Logos) access to the hidden treasures/revelation of God's love through His Word. This password itself is important as it can also be stolen (Mark 4:4 & 15) and when one's password to his safebox is stolen, it spells problem.

A wise man will do well to memorize his password, do password encryption (praying in the Holy Ghost. see 1 Corinthians 14:2) and also do periodic resets (by studying the word daily) so that at every point in time he can access his safebox and bring forth good things (Matthew 12:35).

Matthew 6:33 (NLT)
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

Chijoke had a strange dream more than once, and he became really disturbed. In the dream, an old woman with a walking stick was holding him captive in a farm as a slave, and he would work there for hours. Each time he tried to break free, the old woman so overpowered him that he would faint and wake up with a headache.

He couldn’t understand why he would be having this kind of experience because he was quite committed to the church. He requested to see his pastor.

When the pastor saw him, the spirit of prophecy came upon him and he began to tell Chijoke that his real bondage was bondage to sin. Chijoke had two girlfriends and was living like an unbeliever. ‘You are ready and willing to do whatever it takes to be free from this bondage of the old woman, but you have not taken any step to seek the face of God and receive freedom from the more dangerous bondage of sin which made it possible for you to be under this bondage in the first place. You have been made free in Christ, but you need to enter this freedom by violence. Stop being a slave to sin’.

People are willing to pray and fast and go for night vigils to receive freedom from perceived demonic bondages, but they do not put that level of violence in entering their freedom from sin.

When a person seeks the kingdom of God, he also would seek His righteousness. This means he would fight everything of unrighteousness that is found in his or her life. Like the Psalmist in Psalm 139:23, he would subject himself regularly to heart check. He would purify his ways (see 1 John 3:3). And he would be violent against sin.

Romans 1:16 (KJV)
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

1. You need to stop doing some things before you can be saved

2. You can be saved and still continue doing those things

Both of these positions are false; and neither of them is true.

At the junction of the Cross is the power that raised up Jesus from the dead; and that is what must be preached.

Those that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its lusts, putting them to death through the Spirit(see Gal 5:24).

Like Elisha when he turned from beholding Elijah and smote the Jordan with the mantle, but nothing happened, and then he cried out "where now is the God of Elijah?", and then smote the waters again, so that they parted, so it is with the receiving of the gospel. It is the POWER of God unto salvation. Don't give condition 1 or concession 2 above.

Strike the heart again and again with the revelation of Christ Jesus received, and though nothing may seem to happen, sooner or later; sooner than later, so long as there is a God that raised up Jesus from the dead, indeed old things will pass away, and all things will become New.

Confession: My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.(Gal 5:20 NLT)

Romans 5:3-5 (NLT)
We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.

Lamide understood that all the trials and temptation she faced was working something eternally powerful in her life, therefore she rejoiced and did not draw back in faith. During this period, she developed great strength of character and became a person of great integrity and true love. As a result of this, she now always maintained a clear conscience before the Lord. This made it much easier for her to receive from the Lord and Great miracles started happening when she prayed.

Lamide got to this point of causing miracles to happen because the trials she went through developed endurance in her. And this endurance helped her develop strength of character which facilitated a constantly clear conscience before God and all men.

1 John 3:21-22 (GW) says: Dear friends, if our conscience doesn’t condemn us, we can boldly look to God and receive from Him anything we ask. We receive it because we obey His commandments and do what pleases him.

Strength of character is possible when a believer develops endurance and temperance. One effective way a believer develops endurance is through trails. That's why God says we should rejoice when we face them (see James 1:2-3).

Go into today knowing that trials and persecutions will only help you grow stronger and better. Remember that because you are in Christ, you will always overcome(see Romans 8:37, 1 John 5:4).

Prayer: Father, please help me always maintain a clear conscience before you and before all men (see Acts 24:16). Amen.

John 14:19 (KJV)
Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.

It is weird and strange for someone to want to live with a dead person. You live as the Word suggest because you're alive. Therefore you must abide with someone living and Jesus who is also the Word (John 6:63) lives forevermore (Job 19:25).

The unsaved man is dead and hence he does not and cannot live with anything but death and deadworks unless he receives life. This life is found only in Christ (1 John 5:12).

Having accepted Christ (confessing Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour and actively trusting in Him) we can be sure that we have life. In order to abide with and in Christ we need to maintain that life by faith and obedience to his word. Death brings deadworks but the Blood of Jesus through His Spirit having cleansed us from dead works (Hebrews 9:14) empowers us unto good works which only those living can do (Ephesians 2:10, 2 Corinthians 9:8). However, if we engage in or return to a sinful lifestyle, we are running a great risk of having decaying body parts. Sin just as gangrene, if left unchecked, can corrupt the whole body with its deadness leading to permanent death. Many have lost limbs and other body parts as a rescue treatment for gangrene. Same as with sin, Jesus admonishes us to cut off that body part as a matter of urgency if it will cause irreparable damage to the whole body from abiding eternally with God (Mark 9:43-47). Therefore examine yourself to know if you perceive any decay in your life.

John 14:18 (NASB)
I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.

In a Russian medical research, the "orphan syndrome" was characterized in a study of babies from birth to 3.5 years of age, to have summarily personality disorder and deprivation of character which in turn required psychiatric evaluation. A look at some of experiences of the lives of those who were orphans will show periods of extreme worry, uncertainty, fear, anxiety, low self esteem, timidity, indiscipline etc.

Many live the life of an orphan spiritually without Christ. As a result they are at the mercy of the devil who unfortunately has none. Well fathered children are fearless children and that is who we are as we abide in Christ. The reasons for our fearlessness is because:

a) We have a father who owns everything (Psalm 24:1)

b) Our father has a Name which he also has given to us for our use (John 14:13, 16:24).

c) We can defend our family name and trace our heritage to that of royalty (1 Peter 2:9).

d) Develop character and boldness in personality to confront any situation (Isaiah 54:17).

Based on some of these evidences, abiding in Christ is us confirming our sonship as legitimate children and not bastards or orphans (Romans 8:15-16), bearing in mind that during the Roman era, an adopted son had equal rights and status as though he was biologically born by a progenitor.

Go into today remembering that God is always with us and will never leave us (Hebrews 13:5) and we can be sure that we are not going through life's difficulties alone (Isaiah 63:9). Therefore we must never forget who we are and where we are from. We must be comfortable with and proud of our divine heritage, ready to tell and talk about it always so as to bring back our lost brothers and sisters to the rest and comfort of the our Father whose delight is see us prosper (Psalm 35:27)
