James 1:4 (ERV)
If you let that patience work in you, the end result will be good. You will be mature and complete. You will be all that God wants you to be.

While learning carpentry, John felt that his teacher who also was his father didn't want him to succeed because while other pupils worked, his father asked him to just watch him.
Years later when he was now a celebrated and accomplished craftsman, he realized that he was able to surpass his peers not because he had better skills but because by observing his father work through difficulties to eventually create masterpieces, he had also developed that same virtue that persisted where others gave up.

There is something about being patient that endears one to God. Patience is a fruit of the Spirit (Gal 5:22), and if we desire to see God's will for our lives fulfilled, we will surely need it (Heb 10:36).

in the Parable of the sower (Lk 8:15), Jesus stressed this need as a requirement for success because there would be many who feel that they are having all the abilities. They will hastily rush into doing things but will fail at some point because they lack this virtue.

Waiting on God requires that we actively work on all our spiritual gifts over time. This will ensure that through them, we gain maturity and will be able to withstand trials.

Go into today with all perseverance, growing and developing your spiritual gifts, as this will lead to you achieving success.

Joh 17:3 (JMNT)
"Now THIS is ETERNAL[eonian] Life : namely, that they may progressively come to intimately and experientially know You, the only true and real (genuine) God - and Jesus Christ, Whom You send forth as an Emissary”.

One of the greatest privileges of our faith in Jesus is that of coming into contact with the Father. This brings us to the importance of prayers as a doorway to experiencing God.

A preacher came to a conclusion, which you will agree with after deep studies and practice, that no man or ministry is greater than his prayer life.

Bible Studies, reading Christian literature, listening to great sermons and great preachers will equip you with the word of God, but it is combining it with a robust prayer(fasting) life that will help you know the God of the word. Jesus highlighted this in his engagement with the Jewish intellectuals and leaders when he said "You diligently search the Scriptures because you think you have eternal life in them, and these are they bearing witness concerning Me; and you are not willing to come to Me, that you may have life." (Joh 5:39-40).

You see, though these men were highly skilled in the knowledge of scripture, their knowledge was deprived of the intimacy and experience of the God of the word. This condition robs people of the opportunity to live lives full of God’s Power, Character and Presence.

Go into today, engaging the Lord with all prayers and supplication, focusing every thought and imagination on Him until your mind becomes fruitful enough to see Christ in all circumstances and all in scripture.(Luke 24:13-45).

Philippians 4:6-7 (NET)
6 Do not be anxious about anything. Instead, in every situation, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, tell your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Rhoda was now 30 years old and was not yet married. Her mother was worried sick because she said Rhoda will soon pass ‘the flower of her age’. Rhoda was not worried because each time anxiety tried to enter her heart, she handled it in the place of prayer. Because of this, she was very cheerful and joyful person and had a very attractive personality. This was what attracted the man who eventually married her. He was a very successful and well-celebrated businessman who loved the lord. He wanted that joy and peace he saw radiating from Rhoda to be in his home, so he asked her to marry him.

Anxiety and heaviness are popular negative spiritual forces that hinder the flow of grace and God’s blessings. That is one reason the Lord says we should be anxious for nothing. The most effective way to handle anxiety is through prayer and thanksgiving. One way you will know that you have prayed through is when you no longer feel the anxiety and now feel the peace of God.

It is wise to continue to pray about a matter until the anxiety leaves your heart. Go into today determined to live a life that radiates the glory and joy of the Lord.

Ask the Lord to help you always cast your cares upon Him(Psalm 55:2).

Ephesians 6:18 (NIV)
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people.

Because of her upbringing, Rhoda knew how to pray for long. So when it dawned on her that she was not praying nearly enough, she decided to start praying the way she was brought up to pray. At every opportunity she found, she would pray in the spirit. She also started taking out at least one hour each day to pray in the Spirit.

Rhoda observed that as she prayed more, she became more sensitive in the spirit and was filled with power and boldness. She saw that through prayer, she now physically received the things that had been prophesied over her life long ago; prophecies that appeared like they would not be fulfilled.

It is through prayers that we birth the things that have been given to us through prophecy. This was what Daniel understood when he began to pray concerning the liberation of Israel prophesied by Jeremiah (see Dan 9:2-3).

Rhoda’s prayers were now powerful because she was now walking in the outward manifestation of God’s righteousness.

It is the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man that avails much, not the effectual fervent prayer of any man. Many believers pray long and pray hard, but their prayers are not very powerful because it comes from deceitful lips and impure hearts. They cannot ascend the heights [of power] through prayer because of the way they live their lives (see Psa 24:3-5).

Go into today remembering that deceitful lips do not have any power in the presence of God and his holy angels. Ask the Lord to help you pray in the Spirit on all occasions.

James 5:16 (AMP)
16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another [your false steps, your offenses], and pray for one another, that you may be healed and restored. The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) can accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God-it is dynamic and can have tremendous power].

Rhoda grew up in a church where they knew how to pray. They could pray for twelve ours straight. But it was not a Bible word based church. Many of them lived unrighteous miserable lives despite their great prayer lives. Many of them had broken marriages, etc.. It appeared that all their prayers were not so powerful because they were not righteous people in their manner of conduct.

When Rhoda left home, she started attending a Bible-based church and grew greatly in faith and the word of righteousness. But they didn’t pray much in that church assembly so power wasn’t as much as it should be.

One big problem I have observed is that many churches that emphasize prayer the way churches should, do not emphasize the practical walking out of righteousness in the lives of their members. This has led to many of them living in an unholy and unrighteous manner. Because of this, even though they pray much, their prayers are not very powerful. It is the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man that makes much power available.

It is also sad that many churches that are faith and Bible-based these days do not pray much. Even when they have all night prayers, they spend most of the time doing activities and not praying. There would have been tremendous power available if these churches grounded in the word prayed as much as they should.

Go into today asking the Lord to help you pray more in the spirit.

Ecclesiastes 10:10 (NKJV)
If the ax is dull, And one does not sharpen the edge, Then he must use more strength; But wisdom brings success.

From our bible verse, it's clear that many will struggle in life's battle against the enemy as a result of the dullness of their weapon in spiritual warfare, leading to their eventual exhaustion and sustaining of serious injuries. Wisdom will seek to ensure that such deadly risks are avoided by taking vital steps to maintain the weapon's sharpness. Some of these steps include:

1. Preventing our weapons from degradation:
Sin is to our spiritual weapon the same way moisture is to a metal weapon, causing them to rust or corrode. The tiniest dirt of sin if left unchecked can progressively erode layers of our spiritual weapons, thereby compromising their integrity and as such puts our lives at risk (Jam 1:15)

2. Sharpening our weapons through others:
Iron sharpens iron means we must maintain fellowship with other soldiers in the Lord's army to enable us gauge how blunt or how sharp our weapons are, to help us improve on the strength and quality of our weapons and to give us support when we are less skilled or our weapons aren't individually strong enough to face the enemy (Pro 27:17, Eccl 4:9-12).

3. Oiling and polishing our weapons:
Not only does oiling and polishing help to prevent rusting or wrinkling of weapons but it also enhances its efficiency by making its parts work smoothly, giving it a glistening look. The Holy Spirit is the Oil that polishes all our weapons of war to provide the cutting edge with which they cut down the enemy. Without Him, our weapons are powerless (Judg 15:14-16, Psa 89:20-23, Psa 92:10-11, Acts 19:11-16).

Go into today not only fully clad in armor but also making every effort to ensure that it stays sharp and battle ready because your survival depends on it.

Matthew 6:7-8 (NKJV)
And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.

Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.

Azubike was having a challenge in his business. He prayed that the Lord should give him wisdom and help him solve the problem. The first time he prayed that prayer, he knew he needed to pray some more, but because he did not understand what Jesus meant in today’s Bible text, he felt that God did not want him to pray about the same matter more than once. Thankfully, he was someone who had the habit of studying the Bible, so one day, he read Luke chapter 18 and saw that Jesus actually taught that we could pray the same prayer more than once. This was how he continued to pray until he received his answer.

Jesus prayed the same prayer more than once in the garden of Gethsemane (Matt 26:42-44). Elijah prayed the same prayer seven times when he wanted it to rain again (1 Kings 18:42-44). But what Jesus is warning against in today’s Bible verses is not repetition in prayers, but vain repetition. We saw last time that vain prayers are the kind of prayers that the Gentiles pray. Their prayers are always centered on themselves and their needs. But believers are to pray prayers centered on the kingdom of God and his righteousness.

Go into today asking the Lord to help you to always pray wisely (James 4:3).

Matthew 8: 17 (MSG)
He fulfilled Isaiah’s well-known sermon: He took our illnesses, He carried our diseases.

John was in a bedridden state when he came across a chaplain and became a believer. However, until he came to know the truth about Jesus the healer, he painfully remained on his bed wishing that the healings of old were still possible. He imagined that God in pity would see his present state and maybe act. He would pray, hoping that one day in the future it will happen.

Concerning Isa 53:4-5, Matt 8:17 and 1Pet 2:24, many are like sick John and make the mistake of interpreting these scriptural pillars of healing as:

"There is a forgone past, there is maybe a probable present, and there hopefully will be an occurring future".

When pillars are wrongly placed, a building is unstable and risks collapsing. So is the healing potential of one who hears the gospel without the truth that Christ has settled our healing for the past, present, and future. This leads to a reasoning that insults or makes a mockery of what Christ accomplished for us through His redemptive work.

The truth, however, is that God sees us as already healed because as spirit beings who relate with Him in spirit, He has placed within our recreated spirit His healing power and virtue, which is released for our physical wholeness by our faith.

All that is needed is for us to acknowledge it, receive it and thank God for it, as we renew our minds through His Word. Therefore, the correct way for us interpreting these scriptural pillars of healing is:
"There was a fulfilled past, there is a real and active present, and there is an expected and accomplished future".

Go into today, knowing that Christ settled your healing for all times. And by faith, you're able to release it in your life and over the lives of others.

DISSOCIATE FROM THE RABBLE

Join our social Groups:

Download Today's Audio☞ http://bit.ly/aud1586

Numbers 11:4-6 (NIV)
The rabble with them began to crave other food, and again the Israelites started wailing and said, “If only we had meat to eat! We remember the fish we ate in Egypt at no cost-also the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions and garlic. But now we have lost our appetite; we never see anything but this manna!”

There is a terrifyingly growing influence of the mixed crowd today, even within the annals of Christendom, to dispel the truth of the Gospel as being too rigid. They are a vocal group of agitators, who are experts in twisting words to justify sin to the delight of those who disobey. Preaching love as a smoke screen, they try to sway as okay, relativism and the acceptance of immoral perversions in the body of Christ, pretentiously participating in church activities only to stealthily cause its destruction.

The scriptures tell us that though people from other nations accompanied the Israelites out of Egypt (Exo 12:38), they'd later reveal their true and sinister intention, which was to incite the Israelites to rebel against God (Num 11:4-6). The Bible in 1John 2:19 rightly says about them that: "They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us" (See also Jude 1:16-19).

Any association or gathering where the Bible requirements of the believer to live a holy life of abstinence and contentment (1Pet 1:14-15, 1Tim 6:-9) with respect to the things of the world is frowned upon or mocked at, signifies the workings of the rabble, whose wages is death.

Dissociate yourself today from being part of any rabble disguised as a church, whose popular and enticing doctrines promote sin (2Cor 6:17, 1Pet 2:11-12).

Matthew 6:7-8 (NKJV)
And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.
Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.

Debo observed that he was now telling lies again. He took a count and identified seven different lies he had told in the past four days. He knew he needed to pray. “I cannot continue like this,” he said to himself as he set his alarm clock to wake him up by 2am to pray. After praying in the spirit that night for about two hours, he knew the power of lying in his life was broken. He now had the power to resist the urge to tell lies.

Debo prayed because he observed a fault in his life that was resisting his outward walk of righteousness. His prayer that night was not about his needs, but about seeking the righteousness of God.

In order to properly understand what Jesus is saying in today's Bible verses, we need to read further to verses 31 and 32. Here Jesus explains the content of the prayers of Gentiles. Their prayers are all about their needs which can be summed up in "what shall we eat, what shall we drink, and what shall we wear?”. In the context of God’s kingdom, prayers based on this premise is 'vain prayer', and repeating such prayers is 'vain repetitions'.

Jesus goes ahead to tell us in Matt 6:33 that if we seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, all these other things (of physical and material needs) will be added unto us. One way we seek the kingdom of God is in the place of prayer. No one can truly seek the kingdom of God without seeking to walk in God’s righteousness (see Rom 14:17).
Go into today asking the Lord to help you seek His kingdom and righteousness above all.

Isaiah 58:6 - 7 (MSG)
“This is the kind of fast day I’m after: to break the chains of injustice, get rid of exploitation in the workplace, free the oppressed, cancel debts. What I’m interested in seeing you do is: sharing your food with the hungry, inviting the homeless poor into your homes, putting clothes on the shivering ill-clad, being available to your own families.

A waiter, after learning that he was assigned to host an important guest, set out early that day to arrive at work on time, dressed immaculately, wearing his best smile and being at his most cheerful attitude. When the guest arrived, the waiter welcomed him warmly and promptly went about attending to his requests with excellence, to the utmost satisfaction of the guest. In the end, as the guest was departing, he called the waiter, commended him and gave him a huge tip.

From the illustration above, waiting or fasting doesn't necessarily mean a period of self-affliction, but like a true waiter, it is a strategic positioning of oneself to be attentive and sensitive to the instructions of the Most High and Special Guest, in order to give an acceptable and satisfactory service to Him, which in turn releases His blessings.

Whenever we wait or fast with regards to any situation we desire to change, we shouldn't focus on ourselves or on the fact that we are abstaining from food or other things, rather, our focus should be on Jesus, whom we are meant to please through our service to others (Matt 25:34-40).

Such a period is also not one for indulging in ungodly activities, complaints, murmuring or trying to draw attention to our performance (Isa 58:3-5) but it should be one of continued worship and stewardship in all cheerfulness (Psa 34:1).

Go into today, knowing that as you utilize this approach in your fasting and waiting, you are sure to experience a release of life, healing, blessings and speedy answers to your prayers (Isa 40:31, Isa 58:8-9)

THE WASHING OF THE WORD

Download Today's Audio☞ http://bit.ly/aud1583

John 17:17 (KJV)
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

Phillip was excited to attend a reunion party organized for old students of his university. There he met old friends and even old girlfriends.

You see, Phillip became born again three years after he graduated from the university. But when he was on campus, he was a very ungodly person. He had many godless friends and led a reckless immoral life. But now that he was born again, his life was transformed by the power of God's grace.

The time he spent in that party was characterized by many unwholesome conversations that he wasn’t comfortable in. His old friends who were excited to see him started such conversations with him because they did not know that he was now born again.

When he came out of that party, he felt so defiled and unclean. Dirty thoughts filled his mind and he struggled with them.

When he got back home, he picked up his Bible and started reading it. As he continued to read and dwell in the Word, he felt washed and refreshed. He no longer felt unclean on the inside. This was how the Lord cleansed and renewed his soul (Ps 23:3).

We see in Ephesians 5:26 that the way Christ sanctifies His Church is with the washing of water by the word. This is an explanation of John 17:17 above. In John 15:3, Jesus told His disciples that ‘you are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you’.

Go into today remembering that the word of God is the water of the spirit that washes and sanctifies us.

Prayer: Lord, help me abide in your word always.

Romans 13:14 (KJV)
But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.

Whether to walk in the Spirit or to walk in the flesh is the choice of the believer. It is God’s will that we walk in the spirit and advance in the manifestation of the divine nature and know Him ever more intimately. He has supplied the grace to do this through the indwelling Holy Spirit within the believer. But the devil wants us to walk in the flesh and become spiritually weaker and weaker until we become vulnerable to his manipulations and attacks. This would lead to spiritual death and can cause people predestined to inherit the kingdom of God to die spiritually and not inherit the kingdom of God (Rom 8:13).

How do people walk in the flesh?
People walk in the flesh by allowing the flesh control them and doing the works of the flesh. The Bible verses below outlines the works of the flesh.

Galatians 5:19-21 (NLT):
19 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, 21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

Go into today remembering that believers who continue to walk in the flesh will die spiritually (see Rom 8:13, Gal 6:8). It is the devil’s will to kill you both spiritually and physically (John 10:10). Do not let this happen by yielding to his temptations seeking to make you continually walk in the works of the flesh.
Ask the Lord to help you overcome His temptations at all times.

Matthew 7:22-23 (NKJV)
Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'

Aishat accepted the Lord Jesus when she was on campus. When she graduated and was now living on her own, she searched for a local church to become a part of. The first Church she attended was headed a prophet who was very gifted with the word of knowledge. He saw certain accurate visions about her and asked her to see him in private. After seeing him twice, she was not comfortable with the way he looked at her and touched her when they were in private. She later found out that he was an immoral man who had many girlfriends. Because she was very beautiful, he wanted her to be his girlfriend.

Fortunately for her, she had received proper discipleship training on campus to know to run away from such a minister.

I believe no one will be able to tell Jesus a lie when they appear before Him on judgment day. Those who would tell him that they performed miracles in His name would really think that because they were walking in spiritual gifts, God knows them. But it is only His sheep that He knows. His sheep are His disciples: they are those submitted to His Lordship and do His will; they love Him and obey His commandments (John 14:15, 1 John 2:3). It is those that Love God that are known by Him (see 1 Cor 8:3).

Go into today remembering that it is ‘by their fruits that you shall know them’ (Matt 7:20). The fruit of a person’s life is his character (see Gal 5:22-23). Please run away from the authority of any minister who bears bad fruit.

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

After Chide started abiding in the word of God, he observed that he was now growing in the knowledge of the Lord. He was more conscious of the Lord’s presence in his life and he could now be led by the Holy Spirit. This growth in the knowledge of God made Chide spiritually strong (Dan 11:32b).

In his village, there was a very powerful wicked witch doctor that terrorized everyone. He lived close to Chide’s family house and because of him Chide was always afraid of visiting his family in the village. But since Chide started growing in his knowledge of the Lord, he noticed that he was no longer afraid of this man. He knew that the man was powerful and feared in the village because he had fellowship with demons, but Chide now had fellowship with the all-powerful God. He was bold as a lion because there was no sin and guilt in his life (Psalm 28:1).

Someone in the family died and Chide had to visit them in the village. During the period Chide was in the village, he and everyone in the family noticed that the witch doctor avoided meeting Chide. Before Chide came, the witch doctor used to fetch water from the tap in Chide's family compound every day. But for the four days Chide was around, the witch doctor was nowhere to be found.

The witch doctor knew that Chide was now very dangerous for him because he could sense the mighty presence and glory that followed Chide everywhere. Unlike many Christians, Chide was also aware of this and basked in it.

Go into today remembering that if you believe in Christ and let His word abide in you, you will grow in your knowledge of the Lord and do exploits in His name.

John 3:3 (NET)
Jesus replied, "I tell you the solemn truth, unless a person is born from above, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

One of the privileges being born again affords a believer is the ability to see/recognize and understand the kingdom of God. The kingdom of God is a real kingdom. Every kingdom has a sovereign and the subjects. Every kingdom has territory and tariff. Every kingdom has power and dominion, every kingdom has laws and law enforcement agents, and every kingdom has penalties for disobedience and rewards for loyalty and faithfulness to the work of the king.

When a person becomes born again, he has been born with the life of God and can now inherit the kingdom of God. It is the Father’s good pleasure to give us the kingdom (Luke 12:32).

The sovereign of our Kingdom is the Lord God. We are the subjects of the kingdom. The territory of the kingdom right now is heaven (the spirit realm), and parts of the earth where we the subjects of the kingdom are planted. When the Lord returns, the earth will entirely be taken over by the kingdom (see Dan 7:27, Rev 11:15).

The currency of our kingdom is faith. And the more we submit ourselves to God (offering our bodies as living sacrifices), the more we walk in the authority of the kingdom (James 4:7). It is by the power and authority of the kingdom that we can cast out demons, speak with new tongues, heal the sick, raise the dead, and walk in divine health, etc.

Go into today remembering that God has saved you and brought you into His glorious kingdom (Col 1:13) if you are born again.

Psalm 119:11 (KJV)
11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

After Chide accepted the Lord Jesus, he struggled with many of his previous bad habits and sins. when he discussed this with his discipler, his discipler would recommend prayer and fasting. Chide observed that the prayer and fasting worked in keeping his flesh at bay, but when the fasting was over, he observed that the flesh would spring back up and seek to control him. His spiritual life was like a seesaw; on fire today and down tomorrow.

One day he saw his friend reading a book about the kingdom of God and he was drawn to it. He borrowed the book and started reading it. For the first time, Chide came into an understanding of God’s Truth and kingdom. From then, he was now excited to read the Bible, and even 'the old testament' now made sense to him. He observed that as he became a person of the Word, his prayers became much more powerful and he was now free from the bondage of sin. He received His freedom through the knwoledge of the Truth.

Jesus told those who believed in Him that it is when they abide in His word that they would know the truth, and the truth will set them free(see John 8:31-34).

I have come to realize that the most effective way to escape the power of sin is through abiding in God’s word. The way God sanctifies us is through His word [which is Truth] (see John 17:17). The word of God is the spiritual water that cleanses and renews the minds of those who are born again( see Eph 5:26).

Go into today determined to be a person that abides in God’s word.

Ephesians 1:3 (NLT)
All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.

Dotun was now saved, and he was glad he had escaped the wrath that was imminent. He started learning that he didn’t only escape the wrath of God, but had come into the blessing of God through his continued faith in Christ Jesus. He wasn’t only going to escape hell, but he was now going to inherit the kingdom of God.

Dotun wanted to understand what it means to inherit the kingdom of God. One of the first things he learned was that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God (1 Cor 15:50). He understood that during the resurection, we would not resurrect with bodies of flesh, but with glorified spiritual bodies (1 Cor 15:43-44). These physically visible glorified bodies will reveal our true nature as sons of God. But while we are in this body of flesh, we can experience the first fruits of our kingdom life because of the indwelling Holy Spirit (see Romans 8:23). Since flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, Dotun knew that if he was walking in the flesh (Gal 5:19-21), he could not live the kingdom life of victory, glory, and power.

Today, many believers are not fruitful in the kingdom life because they have not understood the kingdom of God. We can learn from the Parable of the sower (see Matt 13:3-8, 18-23) that those who received the word and were fruitful were those who received it and understood it (see Matt 13:23).

Go into today remembering that you have been blessed with all spiritual blessings. Remember that those who walk in the flesh cannot walk in these blessings.

Colossians 3:6 (NKJV)
Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience

Dotun’s grandmother bought him a Bible as a Birthday present. Before she gave him the present, she prayed over it and asked the Lord to use it to bring him to salvation. When she gave him the Bible, she made him promise to read it.

When Dotun first read the Bible, he started from the Old Testament, but stopped reading it before he got to the New Testament. He particularly liked the story of Nebuchadnezzar and the book of Daniel because as a history student he could confirm that those kingdoms and Kings really existed in history. One thing he observed from reading the Bible as an unbeliever was that the wrath of God was really scary.

So several years later when someone came to preach the gospel to him and told him that by accepting the Lord Jesus he was going to escape the wrath of God, he quickly accepted Christ’s Lordship because he did not want to be part of those who would experience the wrath of God.

One of the reasons the Gospel is good news is because it shows us a way of escape from the wrath that is to come. Humankind is headed for eternal condemnation. The only salvation is in the Lord Jesus.

If you have not accepted the Lord Jesus, today is your day of salvation. Escape the condemnation of the world because ‘He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God’. John 3:18 (NKJV)

Pray this prayer: I believe in my heart and confess that Jesus is my Lord. I will now live under His authority and do as he says. Thank you Lord for dying on the cross for me.

James 4:3 (NIV)
3 When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.

Before the Lord opened her eyes, one of the things Adenike kept saying to herself was that she and Tinuke were mates, yet Tinuke has this and this, but she doesn’t. Her envy streamed from the idea that because she and Tinuke were classmates, Tinuke was not supposed to accomplish more than her in life.

This 'we are mates' or 'I am not his mate' mentality is a toxic one. In the race of destiny, nobody has 'mates', and those who run well are not those who look at their ‘mates’ as they run. They are those who look only unto Jesus as they run (see Heb 12:2).

Those who look at their 'mates' may end up focusing on the wrong things and running a different course from the one set out for them. This is a major reason people build unacceptably and would have their works burned up by the judgment fire of the Lord on that day (see 1 Cor 3:13-15).

Remember that God says that 'they who compare themselves with themselves, are not wise' (2 Cor 10:12). Wisdom is not looking at how far you have gone in the context of your neighbor's accomplishments. It is looking at how far you have gone in the context of God’s assignment for you in life. You will not know and focus on God’s unique assignment for your life if you spend your time comparing yourself with others.

When your prayers are based on comparing with others, they come from an impure motive. But when your prayers are based on your knowledge of where God wants you to be, they come from a pure motive, and they get God’s attention.

Prayer: Lord, please deliver me from comparing myself with others. Amen.

James 4:2-3 (NIV)
2 You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. 3 When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.

Tinuke and Adenike were best friends in the university. But after they graduated, it appeared that Tinuke started progressing much faster than Adenike. Tinuke got a very good high paying job, but Adenike didn’t. Tinuke got engaged and married, but Adenike remained single.

Adenike became troubled because it appeared that God no longer answered her prayers. She started asking the Lord why.

The Lord mercifully revealed to her that since they graduated, she could not pray without having Tinuke in mind. She was envious of Tinuke, and her prayers always started from that point of envy and covetousness. She did not know that this envy was greatly hindering her progress and prosperity.

You see, when there is envy or covetousness in the heart of a believer, it pollutes his motives and hinders him from receiving from the Lord because God does not answer His children’s prayers that stream from fleshly motives. God is a good father; He does not reward bad behavior.

When a person truly trusts in God and knows that everything he will ever receive comes from the Lord, such a person will not be envious of his neighbor’s progress.

We can learn from today’s Bible verse that one way to ensure that God does not answer your prayer is praying from a standpoint of envy or covetousness. Envy causes hatred, and those who hater their brothers are considered to be murderers in the kingdom of God.

Go into today asking the Lord to help you purify your motives and pray acceptably.

Proverbs 4:20-22 (KJV)
“My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.”

It is very exciting to know that God has made provision for our physical health and wellbeing if we make His Word our priority. In the passage we are considering today, “all their flesh” refers to our whole physical body, “health” also means medicine. So we see here that God has provided medicine for our whole physical body. This is very significant as we go through life, because most people will come in contact with some form of illness at some point in their lives. But for the Word of God to be effective as medicine, there’s a direction or prescription for taking it. Let’s consider four of those directions today.

1. Attend to my words or give attention to my words: When you turn to the Bible, you need to give it your total and undivided attention. Try to shut yourself off from other influences or distractions. Remember it is God speaking to you. That is not the time to look at your messages on your phone. You can’t get anything out of the bible if you approach it half-heartedly.

2. Incline your ear: That is an attitude of humility. Bow your ear. It’s an attitude that tells the Lord that you’re willing to be taught. Be humble, be teachable. For you to get the word to work in your life, you must have a desire to be taught.

3. Do not let them depart from your eyes: This refers to focus. Focus on the word of God. Don’t look partly at the bible and partly on other things because they may contradict what the bible is saying. Shut yourself in with what God is saying through the bible. Don’t be distracted. Don’t let any other influence turn you away from what God is saying.

4. Keep them in the midst of your heart: The very essence of all these is to get the word of God into your heart, the very center of human personality.

Follow these directions the way you would adhere to a doctor’s prescription and the word will be to you life and health to your whole physical body.

Psalm 22:3 (KJV)
But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.

Whenever kings visit their subjects, it is usually accompanied with great celebration, and in some cases, singing and even dancing.

God is eternity’s Holy King. He loves to dwell with His people. When Jesus came, he came to make this permanently possible. That is why one of His names (Emmanuel) means God with us. God loves to dwell with us, but our sins and rebellious deeds made this practically impossible. We also could not know the things of God and could not enjoy fellowship with God because of this. But the coming of Christ Jesus occasioned the coming of the Holy Ghost, who lives within us (believers) and guides us into all truth. He is the one who sanctifies us by the truth (John 17:17), and because of this we can now fellowship with God.

But those who are always heavy and unthankful will not enjoy the full benefits of this fellowship. This is a reason why Christians are instructed to ‘rejoice in the Lord always’ and give thanks in all things (see Phil 4:4, 1 Thes 5:18). A thankful and joyful heart creates the atmosphere for the multiplication of grace. This is how to stay filled with the Spirit (see Eph 5:18-20).

Even though the Lord is with us through His Spirit, some believers do not walk in His reality, and consequently live ordinary lives that do not radiate their divine nature. One of the major reasons for this is unthankfulness and heaviness.

If you want to walk in the reality of God’s presence within you, you have to consciously develop the character of thankfulness and joy in the HolyGhost. This is because the Lord inhabits the praises of His people.

Go into today determining to be more thankful and joyful in the Lord. Do this and experience multiplied grace.

Isaiah 53:5 (NET)
He was wounded because of our rebellious deeds, crushed because of our sins; he endured punishment that made us well; because of his wounds we have been healed.

Mrs. Edwin did not know that the reason she could not conceive was because she kept on believing the lie that she was to pay for her past sins. She didn’t realize that if she was able to pay for her sins, Christ would not have to die.

The real problem was that even though God had already forgiven her, she had not yet received His forgiveness and was still living under the cloud of guilt. She cried to the Lord to have mercy on her and let her have her own children. God opened her eyes to see that she needed to accept His forgiveness and forgive her mother-in-law and everyone else who she had been keeping malice with. When she did this, she concieved.

When a believer refuses to accept the forgiveness of God, it would be very difficult for that believer to forgive others. And the sin of unforgiveness is very spiritually toxic.

Many have been afflicted because they have refused to receive the forgiveness of God, even though He has already forgiven them. It is by faith that we receive the forgiveness of God.

The reason why the word of God says God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins (1 John 1:9) is because refusing to forgive us our sins would be unjust since Christ Jesus has already paid for them.

Go into today remembering that it is for Christ’s sake that God forgave you (Eph 4:32). Even though you feel like you don’t deserve God’s forgiveness, be humble enough to receive it freely and move on in the liberty of spirit.

Prayer: thank the Lord for forgiving you iniquities and healing your diseases( Psalm 103:1-3)

Isaiah 53:5 (NET)
He was wounded because of our rebellious deeds, crushed because of our sins; he endured punishment that made us well; because of his wounds we have been healed.

Mrs. Edwin was convinced that the reason she had not been able to conceive was because of her past sins. According to her, God was allowing her to suffer for the things she had done in the past. Even though she was now in Christ, she still believed that she was to pay for her sins.

I have met believers who believe that the reason for certain situations they go through is because of a sin they have committed. I have realized that many believers do not know the danger of such thinking. They do not know that if they were to really pay for their sins, death (and not just suffering) would be the result because the wages of sin is death (Rom 6:23).

If God forgave our sins because of the sacrifice of Jesus, it means we are not the ones to pay for our sins. Jesus has already paid for them on the cross. But if we believe that we are still to pay a small price for our sins, the devil is more than happy to take advantage of this ignorance and afflict us. Many believers have been afflicted because of this wrong mindset. But those who take advantage of the sacrifice (the blood) of Jesus would always overcome the devil (see Rev 12:11).

It is dangerous for a believer to continue in any known sin because this damages his good conscience and produces spiritual death because of faith shipwreck (Rom 8:13, 1 Tim 1:19), but if a believer sins and sincerely repents and renounces his sins, God is faithful and just to forgive him and cleanse him from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). God is faithful and just to do this because Jesus has already paid the price for this.

Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Grace in unconditional but faith is conditional. What you do and do not do has no sway on God’s grace and the things He has given, but what you do and do not do has a sway on your faith and your ability to receive these things. For example, Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God (Rom 10:17). This means you have to hear the word of God in order for faith to come to you.

There are also things that you can do that will cause your faith to diminish and fail.

Since our enemy knows that he cannot stop God from blessing us, he would do everything to hinder us from accessing the blessing by tempting us to do things that will ultimately weaken our faith. It is therefore wise for us to identify and avoid the things that weaken faith and do the things that boost and optimizes faith.

We know that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. So people who apply their hearts to hearing the word of God will experience multiplied faith.

We have also seen that walking with a defiled conscience causes people to have a shipwreck of their faith (see 1 Tim 1:19). This is because faith and boldness always go together. A defiled conscience takes away a believer’s boldness before God and against his adversary. Anything that takes away a person’s spiritual boldness has already affected his faith. Sin is what causes a defiled conscience.

Walking practically in God’s righteousness is the greatest booster of spiritual boldness, and this boldness optimizes our faith. Psalm 28:1: The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.

Go into today asking the Lord to help you avoid things that weaken your faith.

2 Corinthians 4:13 (KJV)
We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak

When Deji decided to stand up from the sick bed and begin to say that he was now healed, he didn’t feel healed. As a matter of fact, when he first stood up, he felt so weak that he almost fainted. But he insisted that he was now healed because he had received the word of God concerning his healing, and he believed it. This was how he received his healing in his body.

One of the attributes of faith is that faith speaks (Mark 11:23). Faith also acts in accordance with what has been spoken.

This is how to act in faith: When you receive the word of God concerning a situation, believe it totally and speak the word that you have received and now believe. Continue to say the word over your life until you see the manifestation of the things you have believed. Faith never gives up.

One of the reasons I believe the power of life and death is in the tongue is because the tongue is the only part of the body that can declare and proclaim [the word of] faith. The tongue can also be used as an instrument to do the opposite of this.

As you go into today, remember to speak the word of God over your life according to what you believe. Don’t just believe the word, speak the word over your life and expect to see the manifestation of the things you have spoken.
Prayer: Father, help me to believe and speak your word over my life. Help me to see the manifestation of your promises in my life through faith. in Jesus name. Amen.

Ephesians 1:3 (NET)
Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms in Christ.

Deji had a most unusual dream one night. In that dream, an angel appeared to him and started telling him and showing him great things concerning his future. After the angel finished what he had to say, Deji responded to the angel by saying ‘but I am very sick, and even my doctor says I am going to die’. The angel interrupted ‘you are not sick; by His stripes you were healed’. Deji responded ‘but I am sick, I am dying’. The angel said again ‘you are in Christ, no one in Christ is sick’. While the angel said this, he disappeared and Deji woke up. After meditating on this dream, Deji got up and started saying he was now well. The nurses were alarmed, but they noticed that he was now a little stronger. He requested to be discharged from the hospital the next day because he said he was now healed. Two weeks after that day, he was perfectly whole in his body. The doctors were astonished.

We have been blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places, but how can we see the physical manifestation of the blessing in our daily experiences?

It is by faith. Faith is our converter. It transfers spiritual realities into physical experiences. There must be the reality in the spirit realm for faith to be able to convert it. That’s why your faith must be based on the word of God. The word of God informs us about the provisions that God has made available in the spirit realm.

Go into today desiring to discover what has been written concerning you and transferring them into this realm by faith.

1 Corinthians 14:2 KJV
For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

Our battle is a battle of words. Everything in life, both animate and inanimate, responds to words. By words, God created the world. The question now is what and how do you speak?

You are to speak and declare mysteries, just like when you hide things from strangers who you don't trust by switching and speaking in your native dialect. You have been given the dialect of the Spirit to utter mysteries (Acts 19:1-6, 1Cor 14:2, Eph 6:19-20).

The reason for speaking mysteries is because, in Christ, you're entitled to a great harvest of blessings, so valuable that you're to safeguard them in the vault of your heart, having your mind fixed on Christ (Phil 4:8). However, since valuables kept in vaults are usually the target of thieves, it is required that they have some sort of lock or passcodes and that all dodgy or suspicious movements around them be dealt with decisively (Prv 4:23).

We now know from John 10:10 that the devil comes to steal from us whenever he listens to our unguarded speech concerning our harvest, but if we speak in mysteries, we communicate directly with God and so are able to reset or perform password encryptions on the vault containing our life's harvest, thereby shutting the devil out. Do not give away your password by speaking only in your understanding, but also speak in mysteries, as advised in 1Cor 14:15.

Speak mysteries and safeguard your harvest today by spending quality time in your privacy, praying in the Holy Ghost.
