THE MARKS OF A TRUE APOSTLE 4

Acts 21:13 (NIV)
Then Paul answered, "Why are you weeping and breaking my heart? I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus."

Richard observed that in that nation he visited, strong systems were put in place to hinder the advancement of the gospel of Christ. He also observed that many Christians around the world were not really interested in preaching the gospel to the people of that region because the church had systematically developed negative emotions towards them. This was a major reason the gospel hadn’t penetrated that region and the gates of hell seemed ever stronger.

After visiting that nation and interacting with the people there, the Lord poured great love and compassion in his heart for them. As a typical Christian who had developed a closed heart towards those ‘children of the bondwoman’, the Lord had to open his heart towards them so that he could effectively bring salvation to them.

'How would I preach the gospel in this place where it is a crime to preach?' He kept asking the Lord. But each time he asked, he received peace in heart and assurance of the Lord's presence with him. This was enough for him. He knew he was going to face persecution if he was going to fulfill the call of God upon his life, but he knew that as long as the Lord was with Him, he was fine. He was willing to give his life to save those people.

The gates of hell in certain territories today seem stronger by the day. But it is because the church has not opened her heart to the people in those territories.

Go into today remembering that before you can effectively win souls for Christ, you must first care about them. The gates of hell cannot withstand the power of the church that does not give up.

Prayer: Pray for God’s apostles in the most difficult parts of the world for the gospel. Ask the Lord to confirm His word through them with signs and wonders (Heb 2:4).

1 Corinthians 9:1-2 (NET)
Am I not free? Am I not an apostle? Have I not seen Jesus our Lord? Are you not my work in the Lord?
If I am not an apostle to others, at least I am to you, for you are the confirming sign of my apostleship in the Lord.

Richard was sure of the assignment and the place, but he didn't know that there were so many gates set by darkness to hinder the invasions of the gospel in that land. The first time he went to that country after his youth service, he went for a medical conference. His things were thoroughly searched at the airport and they were asking all sorts of questions.

Naturally, he traveled with a Bible in his bag, but when he got to his hotel room and settled in, he noticed that his Bible was missing from his things. It became clear to him that the people at the airport were the ones who seized his Bible. They didn't want any Bibles in their country and didn’t want the gospel. This only confirmed what the Lord had told Richard concerning his assignment.

Jesus says ’ I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it’ (see Matt 16:18). One major function of gates is to prevent entry. Gates of hell are systems placed by darkness to hinder the advancement of the gospel in territories. Nations that oppose the preaching of the gospel have aligned with the gates of hell. But the good news for every Apostolic Christian is that the gates of hell would not be able to prevail against you as long as you are ready to go and be a witness for the Lord.

Go into today remembering those who brought the gospel to your nation in spite of the gates of hell that sought to hinder them. Ask the Lord to provide an open door for His apostles in nations where the gates of hell have much sway.

1 Corinthians 9:1-2 (NKJV)
Am I not an apostle? Am I not free? Have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? Are you not my work in the Lord?
If I am not an apostle to others, yet doubtless I am to you. For you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord.

After Richard graduated from the University, he went for his country's mandatory Youth Service Corps. He spent most of that time waiting on the Lord to get clear directions on what exactly he was to do next in life. This was when it became clear to him that it was in accordance with God's eternal plan for him that he studied medicine and surgery. This was to be used to gain entrance into an open door for apostolic work in an unreached nation. He knew the nation the Lord was sending him to after this period of waiting.

Later on, he met some older ministers of God, and they made it clear to him that he had the call to be an apostle because of the nature of the assignment the Lord had given him. Soon after that, he started having encounters with the Lord Jesus in visions and dreams.

His seal of Apostleship was the disciples who were a direct product of his work in the Lord's vineyard. Everywhere he went, he made true disciples.

From the scriptural standpoint, one mark of true Apostleship is true disciples. The Apostles of the Lord were to make disciples of nations. And this they did.

Apostles are wise master builders (1 Cor 3:10). And most of the time, they are those the Lord uses to break ground in new territories or lay proper foundations of God’s building(the church) in territories.

From today's Bible verses, one thing is clear: Apostles are known by their disciples. Show me true disciples of the Lord Jesus, and I will show you that it was directly or indirectly the product of an Apostolic work.

Go into today knowing that false apostles can’t make true disciples of the Lord Jesus.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you fulfill your ministry in this side of eternity.

DISCERNING THE BODY OF CHRIST 3

Get Today's Audio☞ bit.ly/aud1775

1 Corinthians 11:29-30 (KJV)
For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

No member of the body is strong on its own; the strength of every part is drawn from its attachment to other parts. If the hand is detached from the shoulder, it will not be able to perform the function of the hand. The same applies to the body of Christ (the Church).

If you consider a member of the body alone, that member is weak. So, if you continue to see the individual parts of the body alone, you will always see weakness. If you must see, experience and constantly enjoy the strength in the body, you must see each member in the light of the whole body.

When you tear down your father’s house, it shows that you are either ignorant or have been overtaken by an external influence. Ephesians 5:29 (KJV), “For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church.”

Mark 9:40 (KJV), “For he that is not against us is on our part”.
If you have done this in the past, repent and turn over a new leaf now, because you have been enlightened.

You may not be physically sick, weak or poor now, even when you have criticized, condemned and have torn down the body of Christ. You must, however, remember that you are a steward and will give an account of your stewardship.
Matt 12:26(KJV): But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

Go into today determined to be more careful with the things you say especially as it pertains the body of Christ.

Prayer for the sick in today's audio. More teaching on audio too

John 8:32 (KJV)
32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Bolaji observed that in his family, every man was a chronic womanizer. His father left his mother for another woman because of this. His grandfather did the same, but only returned to his wife when he became very sick and his lovers deserted him. His father tried to return to his mother when he too became very sick, but his mother wouldn’t accept him back.

Even though Bolaji was born again and happily married, he observed that a feeling of discontentment towards his wife and a strong lust for other women started growing within his heart. It didn’t take him long to realize that the same demon that led his grandfather and father astray was now on his case. He knew this was a family curse when he started having symptoms of the same disease that killed his father and grandfather. He had prayed and fasted for many days, but as soon as his fasting ended, the lust came back.

The Lord revealed to him that he had to change his belief concerning certain things if he wanted to walk in spiritual liberty. His life and world-view was not shaped by the word of God because he wasn’t devoted to the ministry of the word enough.

Every believer in Christ has a heritage of blessings rather than curses (see Ephesians 1:3), and should walk in total freedom. But this freedom is appropriated through our knowledge of the truth. It was to those who believed in Him that Jesus said ‘you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free’ (see John 8:31-32).

Christ sets us free through our knowledge of the truth revealed by the word of God we know and believe. Those who still believe they are under ancestral curses, rather than believe God’s truth concerning them, never truly experience freedom.

Go into today changing what you believe according to the truth of God’s word concerning you.

Confession: I am filled with the knowledge of God’s will and walking in the blessing(see Col 1:9-10)

THE MARKS OF A TRUE APOSTLE 1

Get Today's Audio☞ bit.ly/aud1773

1 Corinthians 9:1 (NKJV)
Am I not an apostle? Am I not free? Have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? Are you not my work in the Lord?

Femi had reasons to work closely with a servant of God who had an Apostolic call.

After his experience with this Apostle, he couldn’t help but notice how spiritually free the apostle was. This spiritual liberty was contagious. It was characterized by such joy and peace that words could not describe. This servant of God didn't put on any clout and was as down to earth as one can be, but Femi could sense the true peace and liberty that this servant of God enjoyed. He had dealt with other ministers before who proved to be untruthful, but this servant of God was different. He was free.

In today’s Bible verse, the first proof of apostleship Apostle Paul stated was 'am I not free?…'

One of the most important hallmarks of the true apostolic ministry is that it sets people free from the bondage of darkness. It doesn’t stop at bringing pockets of individuals into freedom but seeks to bring about national liberation. Such is the stature of the apostolic ministry.

Jesus commanded His apostles to go and make disciples of nations (see Matt 28:19). A nation can be defined as a group of people who have the same culture, speak the same language, etc. A nation is a group of people who have the same destiny because of certain peculiarities they share. There are nations within nation-states, and because of the peculiarity of each nation, God usually sends apostles to them with special messages that would resonate with their reality and bring them to the liberty of His kingdom. For example, we see that Apostle Peter was an apostle to the Jewish nation, but Paul was not (Gal 2:8).

For one to be a minister of freedom, it is expedient that he himself be free indeed. Many believers do not yet walk in freedom from certain symptoms of the old fleshly bondage they were born with. This is a process that only the Holy Spirit can execute. But we have to let Him.

Go into today remembering that who the Son sets free is free indeed. Ask the Lord to cleanse you of every vestige of the fleshly nature that may seek to find expression in your present reality as a minister of God’s liberty.

THE LOST CONNECTION

Get Today's Audio☞ bit.ly/aud1772

John 14:6 (KJV)
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

We (humans) were created not to die. We couldn’t die as long as we were connected to our source(God); the disruption of this connection is what produces death. Jesus came to reconnect us to our source. Anyone who connects to God through him will not die the second death (eternal separation from God).

1 Corinthians 15:45 (NET): So also it is written, “The first man, Adam, became a living person”; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit.

Job 12:16 (KJV): With him is strength and wisdom: the deceived and the deceiver are his.

When you come to God through the Lord Jesus, the deceiver losses his power over you and you are no longer the deceived.
Knowing that man’s greatest need is to be reconnected to His creator, over the years, the devil has proposed many futile ways claiming to connect people to their source, each culminating in a religion. He knows that as long as humans stay disconnected from God, he’ll continue to have power over them.

In 1 John 14:6(KJV), Jesus says ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me.” Search through the religious books and you will never find a reprint of this truth, it is ascribed to Jesus Christ and Him alone.

Go into today determined to seek and know Jesus better because in Him is your eternal sustainability. If you have not accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior, do so today and be free from the power of death.

DISCERNING THE BODY OF CHRIST 2

Get Today's Audio☞ bit.ly/aud1771

1 Corinthians 11:29-30 (KJV)
For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

Freda was so sick that it was clear to her that she might die. She had walked in divine health and healing before but did not understand why this time, the sickness did not seem to respond to her prayers.
Through the ministry of a prophet, she discovered that she was afflicted because of the way she failed to discern the Lord’s body. She was an expert at publicly bringing down, criticizing and condemning ministers of the gospel she perceived were airing in one way or another. She did not realize that even though some of the ministers she criticized were wrong, her methods and approach was unacceptable.

Children of God don’t rejoice and publicly criticize matters that are a source of grief to the Lord. We don’t take our disputes to the public space and bring down one another. We are not allowed as brethren to take our disputes to public court before unbelievers (see 1 Corinthians 6:1). Why do some think we can take our matters as brethren to the public court of opinions?

Christ is the head, the Church is His body. When any part of the body is sick or in pain, other parts of the body may not feel it, but the head does.

But when other parts rejoice when the head is in pain, it is because they do not rightly discern the body, and may in effect disconnect themselves from that which the head supplies.

No individual part of the body can effectively continue to function without the other parts of the body. Likewise, no believer can be effective without other believers. It is suicidal to think that you are good enough as a ministry without the other ministries.

We may differ in our denominations of worship, gifts, offices, and approaches, but if we have the same Lord, we are all brethren and we should walk with this knowledge.

Go into today knowing that to be a true ambassador of Christ, you must live by the words of Christ in 1 Corinthians 12:26 “And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.”

DISCERNING THE BODY OF CHRIST 1

1 Corinthians 11:29-30 (KJV)
For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

We have all been baptized into the same baptism by the same Spirit, however, His manifestations through us differ.

Ephesians 4:4-5 (KJV), “There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.”

A measure of grace has been given to each of us as members of the body, but in the body lays the fullness of all grace. Because what has been given to us as individuals is a measure, to be effective in our calling we need to partake of the fullness.

1 Corinthians 12:27 (KJV), “Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.”

“Now here is what I am trying to say: All of you together are the one body of Christ and each of you is a separate and necessary part of it.” 1 Co 12:27 (TLB)

1 Corinthians 12:27 (KJV), “And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be feebler, are necessary: And those members of the body, which we think to be less honorable, upon these we bestow more abundant honor; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.”

You see, every believer, office, and gift is important to God.

Go into today remembering that, you are a part of the body of Christ (The Church). You are important to the body (Church) and the head (Christ).
Ask the Lord to help you play your part in blessing the body.

HOW DO WE TREAT EACH OTHER 2?

Get Today's Audio☞ bit.ly/aud1769
Listen to the audio for further explanations on today's topic

1 Corinthians 8:2-3 (NET)
But if someone loves God, he is known by God.

Mrs. Anderson was ready to do whatever she could to help her late friend's children. She sold one of her cars to send two of them to the university.

Before her friend and husband died in a motor accident, she didn't really know their children, but only saw their pictures and knew their ages.

The love she poured on those children after they lost their parents was because of the love she had for her friend.

One thing the Holy Spirit does in the heart of any true believer is to plant the love of God there (see Romans 5:5). This love manifests in the way we treat God's children. It cannot be hidden.

A person cannot truly know God without loving God. Knowing God is to love God.

God’s love is contagious and it compels us to love (2 Corinthians 5:14, 1 John 4:19). It compels us to obey His commandments. It constrains us from fleshly excesses, etc.

Anyone who does not love God does not truly know Him. The more we grow in the knowledge of God, the more we love Him and want to please Him.

Those who do not care about how the Lord feels do not really know and Love Him. Those who do not love God do not know God and are not known by God.

On judgment day, some will be told by the Lord that 'I never knew you' (see Matthew 7:23). They would think the Lord knew them because they once said Jesus is their Lord, but they did not truly know Him and love Him. It showed in the way they lived their lives in lawlessness.

in 1 Corinthians 16:22 (NET), Apostle Paul uses these strong words 'let anyone who has no love for the Lord be accursed...'

Why would He use such strong language for someone who could be a members of the church? Because any member of that Church who did not love the Lord was not one of the fold. He was most likely a wolf in sheep clothing. And we know what wolves do to sheep.

Go into today remembering that those who love God obey Him. And all things work together for the good of those who love God(see Romans 8:28).

HOW DO WE TREAT EACH OTHER ?

1 Corinthians 8:12 (NET)
If you sin against your brothers or sisters in this way and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.

Liza observed that she was going through a season of spiritual dryness. She couldn't understand why this was happening because as far as she knew, she did everything right. She kept to her Bible study and prayer schedule, was faithful in her donations to the church, etc. But she observed that her prayer time was becoming dry and unexciting. It was as if the Holy Spirit didn't show up anymore to empower her to pray.

After struggling like this for days, she became particularly concerned. 'Lord, what is wrong, why am I not experiencing your fellowship like before?'

As soon as she prayed this prayer, she felt the presence of the Lord again. She immediately knew that something was wrong. Moments later, she received a text message from one of her Christian sisters. This message detailed how hurt and offended she was by the way Liza treated her.

Liza immediately understood that the problem was that she had sinned against the Lord in the way she treated this sister. She immediately repented.

Jesus is really concerned about the way we treat each other as Christians. Every Christian you relate with is not just your sister or brother but is also a child of God whose heavenly father jealously cares for. It is particularly bad when more mature believers do things that become a stumbling block for weaker believers (see Mark 9:42).

Many believers have blocked the heavens above them because of the way they have treated their Christian brethren.

Go into today remembering that God watches the way we treat each other as a measure for our faithlessness and love. If you truly love God, it would show in the way you treat His people. See Matthew 25:35-40 and 1 John 4:20

Dealing with so-called gods 2

Luke 10:19 (KJV)
Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Amaka grew up in a community where everyone was afraid of the gods because certain things had happened in the past to invoke such fear.

After Amaka accepted the Lord Jesus and started becoming discipled in the way of the truth, one truth that took time for her to fully understand was that the gods in her town did not have any power over her; that she was raised with Christ far above them and all principalities and powers(see Ephesians 2:6, 1:21).

One evening, as she was going to fellowship, she mistakenly stepped on a Charm dropped on the ground. Normally, if anyone steps on such, they would become fatally ill if they didn’t do certain rituals. But as soon as she stepped on that charm, she knew the power behind it was destroyed. Nothing bad happened to her and she never did any ritual. This sign was the reason her mother became converted.

Amaka observed that as she submitted more and more to the authority of Christ [over her], she found it more and more difficult to believe that the gods in the land had any power. As far as she was concerned, all authority belongs to Christ(Matthew 28:18), and anyone exercising any form of spiritual authority does so illegally and she had the authority to cast out every such demon by the legal authority of Christ. This she did.

One reason some believers do not walk in authority over demons is because they are still afraid of them, and as long as this is the case, fear will hinder the faith required to exercise authority over demons.

Go into today remembering that Christ has given you the authority to trample over all the power of the enemy.
Prayer: Ask the Lord to teach you to walk in this authority.

Dealing with so-called gods

1 Corinthians 8:4 (NET)
With regard then to eating food sacrificed to idols, we know that “an idol in this world is nothing,” and that “there is no God but one.”

Further reading: 1 Corinthians 8:5-6

During the time of the Roman Empire, the known world was submerged in idolatry and the occult. It was no secret that the temple of Baal at the top of a mountain In Pergamum was Satan’s throne (see Revelation 2:13), and most of the deities worshiped in places like Corinth were no small demons.

Apostle Paul was very aware of these realities. He knew that the wrestle of believers was not against flesh and blood, but those who set themselves as enemies of the church were tools used by the principalities and the powers, the rulers of the darkness of this world, and the spiritual wickedness in heavenly places. But see the way Apostle Paul talks about idols and other gods in today's Bible verse.

The way Apostle Paul views Idols, demonic lords and other gods is the way Christians should view them. We are not to acknowledge their power because they don’t have power over us.

What a man believes has great sway over his destiny. Christians who go about fearing demons are usually subdued by them. But Christians who know that they have authority over them walk in this authority.

If a believer has any fear of any god or lord that is not the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, he is acting is disobedience to an express command of the Lord that says we should not fear those whose greatest power does not go beyond destroying the flesh (see Matthew 10:28). If this disobedience and fear continues, it brings the believer under the power of demons.

Go into today remembering that when dealing with demons, the first thing you must conquer is fear. Fear hinders faith, and the victory that overcomes them is your faith (see 1 John 5:4).

THE CHRISTIAN AND THE LAW

Get Today's Audio☞ bit.ly/aud1765
Listen to the audio for further explanations on today's topic

Ephesians 2:15 (NET)
...when he nullified in his flesh the law of commandments in decrees. He did this to create in himself one new man out of two, thus making peace

Christians are not under the 613 laws of Moses, nor are we even under the Ten Commandments. We are under THE LAW OF CHRIST.

1 Corinthians 9:21 (KJV)
To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the LAW OF CHRIST,) that I might gain them that are without law.

Galatians 6:2 (KJV)
Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the LAW OF CHRIST.

Of the Ten Commandments, Jesus and His apostles reiterated nine and ignored that of the Sabbath (there are reasons for this, but that's not our topic today). The Lord gave other instructions that were not captured by the Law of Moses. Instructions like 'turn the other cheek’ or 'do not repay evil for evil’, etc, were not part of the Ten Commandments, but are part of the commandments of Christ (Law of Christ).

Anyone who has accepted Christ as His Lord will obey His commandments. For those who love Him keep His commandments (see John 14:15, John 14:21, John 15:10).

As for the matter of tithing, it is the prerogative of your church assembly. If they pay tithes in your church assembly, then you should pay tithes.

Just as with other matters like dress codes, you should obey the rules of your church assembly. And yes, it is rebellion (even before God) when a Christian disobeys the rules of his church assembly if those rules are not in violation of the law of Christ.

The last time I checked, tithing didn't violate any commandment of Christ. As a matter of fact, a time Jesus mentioned it, He didn't seem to discourage it (see Matthew 23:23).

Go into today knowing that grace is not a license to be lawless. Grace brings people under the law of life and delivers from the law of sin and death.

STABILITY

Get Today's Audio☞ bit.ly/aud1764

Proverbs 24:16 (NET)
Although a righteous person may fall seven times, he gets up again, but the wicked will be brought down by calamity.

Ejura was tired of the constant rise and fall experience in her walk with the Lord. It started looking to her like her spiritual life was going in circles. There were many things that the Lord had spoken to her concerning life and ministry, but it appeared that her spiritual instability was hindering them from coming to fruition.

A day came that she became totally tired of it all and decided to discuss her frustration with her discipler. He discerned that she was now getting discouraged and wondering if God still loved her because of all her failures. He took time to help her understand that the fact that she had fallen did not mean God no longer loved her. He helped her see that there were demons delegated to frustrate believers and cause them to fall and not rise again. But that it was a miracle and the work of God’s great love and grace that has ensured that she rose again each time.

He went ahead to show her that there was a difference between the works of the flesh and the manipulation of demons, that if against a believer’s will, she appears to be in bondage to any work of the flesh, a demon is usually involved. That while the remedy for the flesh is the cross, the remedy for demons is expulsion by the authority of Christ.

He continued by telling her that one reason many believers keep rising and falling is that ‘the zeal of God’s house has not consumed them’. They are not yet consumed by the work of God such that they know they cannot afford to keep falling.

Go into today remembering that anyone in Christ is free indeed. If there appears to be any bondage in your life keeping you from spiritual stability, you have the authority to expel demons and walk in constant spiritual liberty.

KNOWLEDGE AND HUMILITY

Get Today's Audio☞ bit.ly/aud1763

1 Corinthians 8:2 (NET)
If someone thinks he knows something, he does not yet know to the degree that he needs to know.

I remember years ago when I felt I knew something because I had read the Bible from cover to cover and had a few revelations here and there. But the truth was that I really didn't know as needed to know.

Today, I look back and see how devoid of knowledge and understanding I was back then. I knew so little, but I felt I knew so much. After learning much more and growing, I now know that there is still so much to learn. One of my biggest and most sincere prayers today is 'Lord, help me know you more'.

I know of believers who do not read books and would never be caught reading a daily devotional because they believe they know God more than to read what others have to say about Him. Such a mindset is simply an indication that they do not know God to the degree they need to know Him. For every season of your life, there is a degree of the knowledge of God that is required. This knowledge corresponds to your spiritual strength.

Go into today knowing that if you believe you know all that you need to know, it is a sign that you do not know to the degree that you need to know. That is a dangerous place to be.

Prayer: ask the Lord to deliver you from all pride and help you continually grow in your knowledge of Him.

OBEDIENCE ACTIVATES THE BLESSINGS

Get Today's Audio☞ bit.ly/aud1762

1 Corinthians 7:19 (NKJV)
Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing, but keeping the commandments of God is what matters.

From when he was a child, Abu was told that his nation was under a curse and because of that, they could never progress above their neighbors. He was also told that men from his nation behaved the way they did because of this curse. But he knew that in Christ, there was no curse but only blessings. For this reason, he was committed to preaching the gospel to the people of his nation because he wanted them to be free from curses and walk in the blessing.

We know from scripture that the Jews, being physically the defendants of Abraham, had a heritage of the blessing. But we also know that this blessing was activated only when they walked in obedience to God's commandments.

Today, those who are in Christ are the spiritual descendants of Abraham (Galatians 3:29). Jesus is the seed God referred to when He Promised Abraham that in his Seed [not seeds], all the nations of the earth will be blessed (see Galatians 3:16, Genesis 22:18). This means that even if your nation is under the limitations of curses, if the people of that nation accept Christ (Abraham’s seed) and abide in Him, they would be blessed above every curse.

Just like with ancient Israel, the blessing of God is activated in the life of the believer through obedience to the commands of the Lord. For example, God commands children to honor their parents. When blessed people obey this commandment, the blessing of long life; prosperity and seeing good days would be activated (see Ephesians 6:1-3).

Go into today remembering that Jesus commanded us to make disciples of nations (Matthew 28:19). This is because, through Christ, God wants to bless nations and set them free from the dominion of curses.

Confession: I am blessed above all curses because I am in Christ. Amen.

YOU WILL NOT FAIL

Get Today's Audio☞ bit.ly/aud1761

Psalm 55:22 (KJV)
Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

It would be quite an unusual sight to see a little girl walking hand in hand with her father but carrying his traveling or gym bag. It'll be more unusual if he asks her to give the bag to him and she refuses. At this point, though she still has her hand in her father's, she is making their walk become very slow.

Similarly, many believers today are moving laboriously, having become so overwhelmed by life's worries. They forget that God Himself said "I will never leave you nor forsake you" or His word surmising that nothing can separate us from His love in Christ Jesus (Heb 13:5, Rom 8:35-39).

In view of those words, it means that for you to be moved [while your heart is stayed on God], that situation must possess the power to move God or separate you from Him, which as seen from God's word, isn't the case. Your moving should be upwards, motivated by love and not downwards due to worry or from sin's guilt.

No matter the situation, by resiliently holding on to God, you cannot fail. One reason it may feel as though you're failing is lack of trust that God is by your side and that He cares enough for you to let go of your burdens (Read Ps 27, Ps 118, Ps 124, 1Pet 5:7).

Go into today, confident and without fear that God is able to bear your burdens daily. As you continue to trust Him and His Word, your walk will become lighter till you begin to soar in victory (Ps 68:19, Matt 11:28-30).

GIVING ALL DILIGENCE

Hebrews 2:1 (NET)
Therefore we must pay closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.

Terso accepted the Lord on campus when he almost died as a result of the initiation rituals imposed on him by a certain cult group he was about to join. Their members abandoned him to die when it was clear that he wasn’t recovering from the wounds inflicted on him during initiation.

His life was saved by a Christian group who prayed for him and cared for him until he recovered.

He accepted the Lord, grew in the word of God, and walked in the tangible power of God as he grew. Many came to know the Lord because of him.

Many years later, he started ignoring some of the fundamentals of the gospel and started getting excited by strange stories and legalistic rules presented as holiness: every believer who didn’t dress a certain way was going to hell, etc. Terso became very judgmental and legalistic, as a result, there was no more assurance of salvation in his heart, and he was evidently waning in spiritual might.

After certain things happened in his life that proved to him that he had drifted away from the Truth that made him saved, he looked for his university sermon jottings and started reading them again until he properly understood them. The Lord restored him and he discarded the strange doctrines he had received.

It is worthy of all diligence to pay closer attention to the word of God and be sure that we properly understand the basics of our faith as believers. Many have drifted away because they did not give all diligence to understand and continue in certain foundational truths.

Go into today remembering that more than anything else in this world, we must give all diligence to the ministry of the word and to prayer.

Prayer: Lord, please help me never to slip away from your truth. Help me to always be a witness for you in this world. Amen.

THE MARRIAGE IMMUNITY 2

1 Corinthians 7:12-14 (NET)
To the rest I say – I, not the Lord – if a brother has a wife who is not a believer and she is happy to live with him, he should not divorce her.
And if a woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is happy to live with her, she should not divorce him.
For the unbelieving husband is sanctified because of the wife, and the unbelieving wife because of her husband. Otherwise, your children are unclean, but now they are holy.

Drake was going through very tough times in his life. His challenges seemed insurmountable and some of them were because of the terrible mistakes he had made in the past.
One day he was waiting on the Lord in prayer and fasting, he saw in a dream that he was trying to carry a big generator to power his house because a storm had cut their power line, but he could not carry the generator alone until wife joined him and it became easy for him to carry. From that day, he started praying with his wife as a matter of necessity, and they now spent a lot of time praying in the Spirit together.
The first thing he noticed was that as a result of their prayers together, they had fewer misunderstandings. With time, the mountains that seemed insurmountable became stepping stones.

Yesterday, we saw that marriage is the only place where a believer who becomes saved after marriage can have fellowship with an unbeliever (who is his unsaved spouse) and remain undefiled. That’s how powerful marriage is.

God cares so much about our relationships because they are the theatre which affords us the opportunity to practically grow in our divine nature [of love]. That is the reason why prayers of agreement between saints invoke the highest spiritual authority and power of heaven (see Matthew 18:18-19). It should be easier for a couple to reach this agreement.

Go into today knowing that your adversary the devil will fight unity and agreement between you and your spouse because he knows the power your agreement with prayers can produce. Praying in the spirit with your spouse drives away the spirit of discord and produces unity and power.

THE MARRIAGE IMUNITY

1 Corinthians 7:12-14 (NET)
To the rest I say – I, not the Lord – if a brother has a wife who is not a believer and she is happy to live with him, he should not divorce her.
And if a woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is happy to live with her, she should not divorce him.
For the unbelieving husband is sanctified because of the wife, and the unbelieving wife because of her husband. Otherwise your children are unclean, but now they are holy.

After Lamide accepted the Lord Jesus, she was deeply troubled because her husband refused to accept the Lord Jesus. But he still loved her and did not want to leave her. She realized that even though her husband remained an unbeliever, her faith was not affected by his unbelief. This was a mystery to her because she observed that her faith was affected by the unbelief of other people she acquainted herself with.

Marriage is the first human institution ordained by God and it is very powerful. Marriage is so powerful that it defies many natural laws. For example, one plus one equals two, but in marriage, one plus one equals one because’ the two shall become one flesh’(Mark 10:8, Eph 5:31). Normally speaking, clean things do not sanctify dirty things, but dirty things pollute clean things. If you mingle clean clothes and dirty clothes, the dirty clothes will pollute the clean ones and not the clean clothes purifying the dirty clothes. Normally speaking, having fellowship with unbelievers defiles believers(see 2 Cor 6:14-16), but in the case of marriage, we see from today’s verses that when a person married to an unbeliever becomes a believer, the unbelieving spouse will be sanctified because of him. This does not mean the unbelieving spouse is saved by the salvation of the believing spouse, but it means the unbelief of the unbelieving spouse would not be able to defile the believing spouse as it normally would if it were not a marriage relationship. Such immunity from defilement in the midst of fellowship with an unbeliever is only found in marriage.

Go into today remembering that marriage is a very powerful institution created by God. Because marriage is God’s idea, it can only help you fulfill divine destiny if it is run according to God’s manual (Word).

MARRIAGE AND INTEGRITY

Get Today's Audio☞ bit.ly/aud1757

1 Corinthians 7:1-2 (KJV)
Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.
Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

Before the epistle of First Corinthians was written, some members of the church at Corinth wrote a letter to Apostle Paul asking certain questions. They wanted to know if they were permitted to get married as unmarried men and women who now believed in the Lord Jesus. They wanted also to know if those married to unbelievers could remain with their spouses even if their spouses did not believe.
Today’s Bible verses addresses the first question the Corinthians raised. Apostle Paul makes it clear here that even though celibacy is a good thing, sexual immorality is a bad thing and marriage helps to avoid it.

One of the strongest attributes of God that His children inherit is His integrity (Psalm 15:4). God even exalts His word above His name (Psalm 138:2), that’s how much a Person of integrity our God is. Marriage adds the layer of integrity into the reasons why a believer must flee all sexual immorality. If a married person commits immorality, he not only sins against God and his body but sins against his wife and breaks his integrity.

Some have taught that celibacy is a secret to spiritual power. That could be true for some inferior form of spiritual power, but God’s power doesn’t work that way. The only reason in the word of God why unmarried people can serve God better is because a married man would have to be concerned about the things of this world—how to please his wife.
But marriage becomes a big plus to ministry when one marries the right person who would help him/her fulfill his divine mandate.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you marry the right person who would help you fulfill your divine destiny.

If you are married, ask the Lord to help you and your spouse help each other fulfill destiny.

JUDGED BY NO ONE

Get Today's Audio☞ bit.ly/aud1756

1 Corinthians 2:15 (KJV)
But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.

This the word of the Lord for someone who is reading, “God has placed help next to you, if you will only ask”

To understand today’s text, let us read verses 6-7.

“Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory”

When you come to God through Christ Jesus in surrender, you are made perfect by God in Jesus. God is now dwelling in you and because God cannot be judged, you cannot be judged when you are yielded to Him. The man who is yielded to God will produce the fruit of the Spirit and against such is no law.

Galatians 5:22-23, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”

If there is no law, there will be no sin and if there is no sin there will be no judgment. This is true for our spirit and will only become our experience when we yield completely to the Holy Spirit whom God has given us. Attaining this state in God where we can judge all things and are not judged by any man ourselves should be our everyday desire.

2 Corinthians 6:10, “being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete”; this is dominion.

Go into today knowing that perfection and dominion is possible when we look up to Jesus steadfastly. See 2 Corinthians 3:18

FAITHFUL IN THE UNRIGHTEOUS MAMMON?

Get Today's Audio☞ bit.ly/aud1755

Luke 16:11 (KJV)
If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?

Ekene worked in his boss’s shop where he served as an apprentice. He often added to the price of the goods sold and stole from his boss so that he could make some extra money. He did this all through his years as an apprentice and was never caught. After he had finished his apprenticeship, he began his personal business, but he never prospered. He became so frustrated that he sought help from his pastor. By prophecy, his pastor told him about how he had been an unfaithful apprentice; and told him what to do if he wanted his lot to change.

Luke 16:12 (KJV), “And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own?”

Before God commits true riches to your hands, he will first of all test your faithfulness with the unrighteous mammon (money). For Ekene, he had to work under a boss. For you, it may be managing the finance of a little group such as a church, family and even your personal earnings, for example, tithing, offering, giving to others and how you spend money etc. When you are unfaithful with the little at hand, you will not receive the much that is desired.

Luke 16:10 (KJV), “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.”

If you desire the true riches of the kingdom, you must learn to be faithful in the unrighteous mammon (money), because, except you are found worthy of trust, God will not entrust you with the riches of His kingdom which includes earthly wealth.

Go into today knowing that God is willing to give you true riches. However, you must forsake all your unrighteous ways of seeking money.
