Worship and Physical Posture

Download Today's Audio ☞ bit.ly/aud2150
1 Timothy 2:8 (KJV)  I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

Dr. Tunde didn't give ear to what  Jude had to say because Jude came to his office requesting a favor, but his posture and demeanor were inappropriate. All the while Jude spoke with Dr. Tunde, his hand was inside his pocket and his words were careless. Dr. Tunde concluded that Jude was not a serious individual. Jude lost the opportunity of great help because he did not understand the place of posture and presentation.

Because most religions in the world are highly spiritual, they are very particular about the posture people assume in worship. Whether bowing down, sitting in lotus positions, or kneeling, etc, the posture a person assumes maters in his interaction with spirits. Indeed, there are postures that people can take that invite certain kinds of spirits. The lotus position for yoga is a good example.

It usually comes as a natural response for people to lift up their hands when they truly admire, adore and worship. Even fans of pop stars intuitively lift hands up during their music performances.
It is also quite natural and intuitive to bow in some manner when greeting a person you truly respect, honor, and worship.

It is important to note that unlike other religions and sects, believers in Christ do not have a prescribed posture without which our worship and praise would not be accepted. But we are allowed and encouraged to take postures that we would naturally and intuitively take when there is adoration in our hearts towards the one with whom we have to deal.

When a believer lifts up his hands to the Lord in worship, it is an extra communication of worship to God beyond words, and it is very powerful. David said "[l]et my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice" (Psalm 141:2).

Go into today remembering that your posture in worship is reflective of the posture of your heart, and it can influence the posture of your heart. Also, remember to lift up your hands to the Lord in worship today.

Prayer: Father, let the lifting up of my hands be as the evening sacrifice. Let me always dwell in your presence and enjoy the fellowship of your Spirit. Amen.

Commanding Kingdom Authority

Download Today's Audio ☞ bit.ly/aud2149
Matthew 8:9-10 (KJV)  For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

Ray served as an assistant Pastor in his Church before he was transferred to a new city by his employer and was released by his church. When he got to this new city, he quickly joined a Church assembly the Lord led him to. He noticed however that the Pastor of this Church did not understand the word of God like his former Pastor who had great depth of understanding and the accompanying manifestation of God’s power. Because of this, it was difficult for Ray to submit to this new Pastor. He often complained, murmured and sometimes disobeyed instructions from the pastor. This continued even though he knew that this Church was where the Lord wanted him to serve.

The Pastor soon noticed Ray because of his gifts and assigned him responsibilities, but it was still difficult for Ray to submit to this new Pastor. "I am better than this man" he would think.

In one of the services where ray ministered, a  demon-possessed man was brought. Ray did all that he could but the demon did not leave. Ray went home heavy, sad, and wondering what went wrong: "Lord, I thought we have gone past this level. More than twenty possessed men were delivered in my former Church, three of them were completely insane and you made them completely whole. Have you left me? Oh, I don’t understand!" Because of this experience, Ray took out time and went for a personal retreat. During the retreat,  the Lord revealed to him that the reason he no longer had the requisite authority to cast out certain demons was because he had not been subject to the authority God placed over him.

To have much needed spiritual authority, you must be under God's authority yourself. This would show in the way you respond to constituted human authorities that God has placed over you. If a man cannot submit to men that God has placed over him, he is not submitted to God.

Pray this way: Lord, I receive grace to submit to those you have placed over me,  in Jesus' name. Amen.

The Wisdom of the Just

Download Today's Audio ☞ bit.ly/aud2148
Luke 1:17 (NET)
And he will go as forerunner before the Lord in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers back to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared for him

Every lifestyle is usually built on a worldview. A worldview refers to one’s philosophy or explanation of life. You don’t need to be a grey-bearded philosopher to have a worldview, you don’t even need to be aware of it to have it.

Proverbs 14:12 reads, ‘There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death’ (NHEB). This tells you that (even though it leads to death eventually) the person considers that way to be the right way. Here is how it works, take covetousness as an example, a person who subscribes to the view that money is the greatest end/pursuit of life is a potential murderer, thief, swindler, envious and bitter person. He doesn’t need to set out to be all of these, but that is one of the pathways of that ‘way’, and what’s more, he will become good at all of these along the way.

What about a man who believes that pleasure or self-satisfaction is the highest pursuit in life? You are looking at a man who is potentially given to lust, is capable (whether now or later) of spiking a lady’s drink to have his way with her, an unstable and unreliable person, a betrayer of trust, etcetera. These are some of the pathways on that ‘way’, and he will get quite skilled at it because there is a ‘wisdom’ that guides these ways. Apostle James spoke about this in James 3:13-16, ‘…But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.’

The wisdom that is from above is revealed in Christ Jesus. It is called the wisdom of the just or the way of righteousness (as some other versions put it). It is peaceable, gentle, accommodating, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and not hypocritical (James 3:17). This is why the blessed man (of Psalms 1) does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly, no matter how ‘wise’ it sounds. (The counsel of the ungodly is a pattern of thought contrary to God’s word and wisdom).

Go into today determined to forsake every false way and to walk in the way of righteousness, always remembering that God’s word is [and imparts] God’s wisdom.
Prayer: Lord, help me walk in your wisdom and excel in your divine life. Amen.

The Power Of Doctrine

Download Today's Audio ☞ bit.ly/aud2147

2 Peter 2:1-2 (NASB)
But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves. 2 Many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned.

When Bidemi and her Fiancé traveled home to see her parents, her stepmother found a way of letting him know that Bidemi was not a legitimate child. She also told him that Bidemi was pregnant when she was 16 and aborted it. Unknown to her stepmother, Bidemi and her intended had no secrets between them, so her wicked plot did not work.

Bidemi’s stepmother was a leader in their church. She was very committed to the church, but she was not truly a Christian. This was not entirely her fault, it was the fault of the false teachers that they had in their church.

Because of her stepmother, it was initially very difficult for Bidemi to accept the Lord Jesus. She thought Christians were like her stepmother. But thank God she had the opportunity of meeting real Christians later in her life.

False doctrines usually have many followers because they are usually more appealing to the flesh and to the carnal believer.

Go into today remembering that the easiest way to identify false prophets and false teachers is by their fruits (see Matthew 7:15). The fruit of a person’s life is his character and his integrity. The fruit of a ministry is the quality of disciples produced through that ministry. If you observe that most of the members of a particular ministry you know are bankrupt in morality and integrity, please stay away from that ministry.

Prayer: Lord, help me to be fruitful. Deliver me from the contamination of false doctrines. Amen.

The Mediator

Download Today's Audio ☞ bit.ly/aud2146

Job 9:33 (ISV) There is not yet a mediator between us, who would set his hand on the two of us

Debbie worked in one of the top commercial banks in her country. She was an entry-level staff. One day, she had a minor altercation with one of the bank’s customers. The customer had come in very pissed because his account was debited without the ATM dispensing the cash. And to make matters worse, his card got stuck in the ATM. He met Debbie and demanded for his cash and card, stating that he was on transit and this was his last resort.

Debbie tried to let him know that there was a process he had to follow to address the issues and that it might take a minimum of 24hours before it could be resolved, but he would have none of it. He became so furious, using abusive words and was ready to make a scene when Debbie inadvertently remarked that shouting won’t solve his problems and that he had better calm down and the customer at that point created a big scene.

Debbie was queried and she responded to the query. But when the matter was being discussed in the management meeting, she wasn’t there because she is not in the management team, however, her Head of Department who works with her and is also member of the management team was able to speak on her behalf, pleading for leniency stating that Debbie has been a good staff and that this was an honest mistake.

Philippians 2:6-8 tells us that Jesus, being God, laid aside His mighty power and privileges as God, so he could take up flesh and become like one of us. By doing this, he was able to give Himself up for us so we could be saved. But that’s not all, He is also able to daily make intercessions for us before the Father by reason of his shed blood. He pleads on our behalf citing not our good works but His.

So today, the cry of Job expressed in today’s text has been met. We have Jesus who though is God is also fully man and He is our mediator. Hebrews 7:25 puts it this way, “Wherefore He is able to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them”

Go into today rejoicing, you have no reason to fail nor falter, for you have Jesus at work in you and for you.

Prayer: Thank the Lord for being your mediator and helper.

Staying Free Indeed

Download Today's Audio ☞ bit.ly/aud1831
1 Corinthians 10:13 (NET)
No trial has overtaken you that is not faced by others. And God is faithful: He will not let you be tried beyond what you are able to bear, but with the trial will also provide a way out so that you may be able to endure it.

Each time Ikenna read this Bible verse, it seemed untrue to him because of his experience. He had found temptations that he could not overcome but kept falling against his will. It appeared that these temptations were beyond what he could bear.

After Apostle Paul admonished the Corinthians with the example of the people of Israel who were judged in the wilderness because of their unbelief, rebellion, and disobedience, he went ahead to remind them that there is no temptation they face that they are not able to overcome. That with every temptation, God would provide an escape route. This is an admonition to normal Christians who are not slaves to sin but are now free.

When a Christian finds that he is having temptations that are so compulsive that it always ends up as if he has no way out, and he keeps falling against his will, it may be an indication that he needs to be delivered and set free from the bondage of that sin.

Lasting deliverance from any kind of bondage is received through the knowledge of The Truth (see John 8:33-34). This knowledge is facilitated by devotion to the ministry of the word and prayer.

There is the place for the deliverance ministry; indeed, the Lord has commanded us to cast out demons(Matt 10:8). But in order for the believer to be free and stay free, through devotion to the word and prayer, he must be filled with the Spirit of Truth--and thereby have no more room for the demon of bondage which would seek to come back to its old home(see Matt 12:43-45).

Go into today remembering that you have been given the authority to cast out demons. Any recurring temptation that seems overpowering is most likely facilitated by a demon that must be cast out if there must be freedom.

Prayer: Thank you Lord for coming to set me free. Help me to stay free indeed. Amen.

Good News That Brings Great Joy

Download Today's Audio ☞ bit.ly/aud2145
Luke 2:10-11 (NET)  But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid! Listen carefully, for I proclaim to you good news that brings great joy to all the people: Today your Savior is born in the city of David. He is Christ the Lord.

Today we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ our Lord. We celebrate the coming of God to be among us men (see Isaiah 7:14,9:6, Matthew 1:23). From that day over 2000 years ago that God came to be with us, God has been with us ever since. After the accession of Jesus into heaven, the Holy Spirit was sent to come and be with the church. This could not have happened if Christ did not come first and ascend to glory (see John 7:39).

The Holy Spirit had been in the world from the beginning(see Genesis 1:2), but all the times we see the Holy Spirit operating in the old Testament, being omnipresent, He was operating on the earth from heaven. But because of the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit has come to the earth and is dwelling in the church. He currently operates everywhere in the universe from the church. That is why today, whatever we (the church) bind on earth is bound in heaven, and whatever we loose on earth is loosed in heaven(Matthew 18:18).

Indeed, God is with us because of the coming of Jesus. Everywhere two or three are gathered in His name, He is there in their midst. Don't take for granted any opportunity to gather together with other people in the name of the Lord. The great possibilities and opportunities in such gatherings are limitless if you understand the power thereof.
Gathering in the name of the Lord means Jesus is the reason you are gathered. It means He is at the center of it all.
Even as we celebrate the coming of our Lord, let us remember to put Jesus at the center of it all so that His power can flow through us.

Go into today remembering to thank the Lord for humbling Himself and coming to be with us.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to use you to bring His salvation to many people in this season of celebration.

I Know Whose I Am

Download Today's Audio ☞ bit.ly/aud2144
Acts 27:23(KJV)
For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve (Read from 21-26)

Usually, when there is a fight for supremacy, the one trying to exert his supremacy will ask, do you know who I am?
For the believer, who he is a derivative of whose he is.

The believer is special, but everything special about the believer comes from God. Now read the well-known 2 Corinthians 5 vs 17 to 18a:

“So then, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; what is old has passed away – look, what is new has come! And all these things are from God”

Therefore, the believer’s boast must only be in the Lord. We belong to Him, our life is His and our living must be based on His agenda. We live to do His good pleasure. We are of God says 1 John 4:4, but it goes on to tell us why: because the Greater One lives in us.

Now let us consider Abraham, It was obvious that there was something special about Abraham, he had left his father’s house and people and yet he was prospering, he let his nephew choose the best land and yet he kept prospering, and when four kings came together and defeated five kings and took captives including his nephew Lot, he took trained servants and defeated the kings the five kings could not defeat. But then came a man of God, Melchizedek and in his salutation, we get an insight into what made Abraham special;

“And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the Most High God…” (Gen 14:19)

The Bible talks about great promises that are ours in Christ Jesus. But do well to remember that all these promises are because of what God has done for us in Christ Jesus. We are who we are because of whose we are. We are of God, saved by His grace.

Let your boast be in Him, and let your living be for Him.
Go into today remembering that when you live in the consciousness of whose you are, you will see the manifestation of His great power in your life.

Prayer: Thank you Father for the privilege to belong to you. Please help me always live in this consciousness. In Jesus' name. Amen.

His Mercies Are New Every Morning

Download Today's Audio ☞ bit.ly/aud2143

Lamentations 3:22-23 (KJV)
It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

It was after Amaka had accepted the Lord Jesus and was instrumental in bringing many to Christ that she got careless and fell into the sin of sexual immorality which led to an unwanted pregnancy. In wanting to cover up because of her reputation, she aborted the baby.

But when her conscience continued to trouble her, she confessed to her local Church council and they help her back on her feet. But whenever she heard a preacher mention sexual immorality or abortion, she would burst into tears because she had not forgiven herself. This continued for years, and during this period she didn't make any progress in her walk with the Lord. She would blame herself for everything going wrong, so much so that she became depressed and even attempted suicide. But through much counseling and prayers, the Lord restored her.

Satan the accuser is constantly seeking moments of advantage to torment children of God. One such moment of advantage is when a child of God is unable to forgive himself after confessing and repenting from a sin.

2 Corinthians 2:11 (KJV) reads,  ‘‘lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices’’. In order not to give Satan an undue advantage like Amaka did, you must understand that God’s mercies are new every morning. Once God has forgiven your sin, you are forgiven indeed. Any voice reminding you of that same sin is not of God.

Go into today knowing that if you are in Christ, God has forgiven you. Accept His forgiveness and move on. Do not give Satan space.

Prayer: Confess and repent from every known sin. Receive God’s forgiveness by faith in Jesus' name.
Ask for grace to never return to sin again in Jesus' name.

Staying Spiritually Strong

Get Audio Version Here: bit.ly/aud1827
Ephesians 6:18 (KJV) Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints

Bayo experienced great revival during his days as a youth corps member for his country. During this period, he became trained in the way of prayer and the ministry of the word. After he finished his youth service, he continued to grow and enjoy God’s presence through the ministry of the Word and prayer.

He got a very high paying high demand job. Because of the nature of this new job, he had to leave the house very early in the morning and get back home at night. This started telling greatly on his prayer and word life. He could no longer pray as before and had no time for Bible studies during the week. Apart from the fact that he now had less time to pray, the zeal and desire he used to have for prayer and fellowship with the Lord seemed to have vanished.

This continued for weeks and months. He knew he was waning in spiritual strength when the temptations he had overcome long ago started overpowering him. He now knew he needed help.

No matter what heights you have attained spiritually, if you take away prayer and the ministry of the word from your daily disciplines for long, you will eventually fall. The devil understands this too well, that's why he would do anything he can to distract God's people from consistency in the word and prayer.

The Lord knows you cannot survive without a prayer life, that's why there are numerous instructions to us in the New Testament concerning praying always (see 1 Thess 5:17, Col 4:2, Phil 4:6, Jude 1:20, Luke 18:1,21:36, Mark 14:38, 1 Pet 4:7, Rom 12:12, Eph 6:18).

Go into today remembering that praying always for the believer is not an option, it is the only way to excel in spiritual life.

Rise Like An Edifice

Download Today's Audio ☞ bit.ly/aud2142
Jude 1:20 (AMP) But you, beloved, build yourselves up [founded] on your most holy faith [make progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], praying in the Holy Spirit

Janice got born again and joined a Christian fellowship. She was faithful with Bible study, however, she still felt something was lacking as she was not quite able to exert her spiritual authority. She approached her fellowship president for counsel, he asked about her prayer life and she confirmed that she prays a few minutes in the morning and has not been quite consistent with it. He also asked her if she was baptized in the Holy Ghost and she affirmed that she was but that she rarely prays in the Spirit. He helped her choose a time every day for her to pray in the Spirit. He followed up with her to ensure she didn’t default. Before long, she testified that not only is she able to exercise spiritual authority better than before, but that she is able to effectively discern the leading of the Holy Spirit for her life and ministry.

Romans 8:26 teaches us that the Holy Spirit helps us, and 1st Corinthians 14:4a says, “He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself”. Another word for 'edify' is build up. When we pray in the Spirit we build up ourselves. Today’s text says we make progress and rise like an edifice higher and higher. It is a profitable practice to devote time to prayer and to pray often in the spirit. A person who devotes himself to this will experience great growth and increased spiritual sensitivity.

So make up your mind today to take advantage of this great privilege made available to us in the Holy Spirit. When you do this, you will see your self rise like an edifice. You will be able to discern God’s will for your life and ministry with much more clarity.

Go into today with a mind made up to build your self in your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.
Prayer: Father, give me the strength and discipline to pray in the Holy Ghost today, and every day of my life. Amen.

Redeeming The Time

Download Today's Audio ☞ bit.ly/aud214

Ephesians 5:16 (KJV)  Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Rose had been a believer for 4 years. Even though she attended Church services regularly, she still suffered terrible nightmares regularly. Anytime she had a nightmare, she’d run to her pastor for prayers, then she’d get a break for some days or weeks. After noticing that her deliverance was always short-lived, she eventually got tired of the rituals of fasting, vigils and Bible studies and started considering going back to her past life.

Like Rose, many are under the oppression of demons and evil men. Haven tried all that they know to do, some are now beginning to get discouraged in their walk of faith, especially when the freedom they desire is not forthcoming.

We are not left in the dark concerning these matters; God told us that the days are evil. Matthew 6:34 (KJV) reads:  ’‘take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof’’. The Lord, however, did not stop at this, He also tells us how to handle the evils. In today’s text, we see that we are to redeem the time because the days are evil. Note that we are to handle life daily and not weekly, monthly or yearly. Redeeming the time must be done daily.

One reason some Christians have not enjoyed consistent victory is because they have not engaged this truth of redeeming the time daily, but have waited for the next challenge to come and throw them into panic mode of prayer and fasting.

Men ought always to pray and not to faint (Luke18:1 KJV). One of the things handled in the place of prayer is the evil of the day.

Go into today making up your mind to give no place to the devil (Ephesians 4:27). Create systems that ensure that you redeem the time daily by spending quality time with the Lord in prayer and the ministry of the word.

Pray this way: thank you, Heavenly Father, for this truth. I ask for the grace to daily redeem the time, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Being Born Again

Download Today's Audio ☞ bit.ly/aud2140

1 Peter 1:23 (KJV)
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

The term ‘Born Again’ has come to mean different things to different people. To some it refers to Christians who are very serious with their faith, to others it refers to those who speak in tongues and flow in the things of the spirit. However, the scriptures should clear up any confusion that arises.

A man is said to be born again when he hears and believes the gospel. The moment he believes and confesses Jesus as his Lord and Saviour, something happens. John 1:12&13 tells us that that person receives the right to become a child of God. This right is obtained through birth. It goes further to explain that this birth is not a natural kind of birth but is divine. A new life begins, a life submitted to God.

As a result of this miraculous birth, God becomes the Father and Master of the one born again. So, if you have believed in the Lord Jesus for salvation, believing in your heart and confessing Him with your mouth, you have been born again. Now you must live like your Father. You see, in John 8 vs 44, Jesus speaking to the Pharisees said, “You people are from your father the devil, and you want to do what your father desires…” (NET). Likewise, those whose father God is would also want to do what the Father desires. Which is why there is no dichotomy in Christ, there is part that is born-again while the other is not.

The difference between the ‘serious’ Christians and others is called Spiritual Growth. Therefore, as newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word that you might grow thereby (1 Peter 2:2). So seek to grow, study the word, pray and fellowship with fellow believers.

Go into today meditating on this admonition from the Book of Titus 3:8,
“This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men”.
Prayer: Father help me to live a life that pleases you in all things. Strengthen me with might by your Spirit. Amen.

Jesus Our Advocate

Download Today's Audio ☞ bit.ly/aud2139
1 Timothy 2:5 (KJV)  For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus

Tanya was asked why she always loved to direct her prayers to God through the saints of old.
"Why do you pray to the saints?" her friend asked.
She replied: "because they are human and they are with God. They understand what it means to be human and they can help intercede for me more effectively".
Her friend responded by telling her that Jesus is also human and He intercedes for us.
Tanya had a hard time believing that Jesus is still human. She had to be shown in scripture. After this, she understood why she didn't need to pray to any other human.

In today's Bible verse, Jesus is referred to as 'the man Christ Jesus'. Even after His resurrection and glorification, He still chose to remain a man for our sakes.

Tanya's reasoning (and that of many like her who pray to the saints) makes a lot of sense. It is true that a human who had gone to be with God is more effective in interceding for us, and we need that.
God understands this. That was one of the reasons Christ came as a man like us. After His death, burial and resurrection, he remains a man. Today, we can pray in His name and pray to Him, knowing that He is not untouched with the feelings of our infirmities. He knows what it is like to be human and weak. He understands. He knows how to strengthen us.

Many condemn themselves because they believe God has condemned them already. They do not realize that God wants to accept them more than they want to come to Him.
You see, it is impossible to have the kind of bold faith that moves mountains if our consciences are heavy(see Proverbs 28:1). Only the blood of Jesus is powerful enough to cleanse us from a defiled conscience. This happens by accepting and appropriating the sacrifice of Christ. He suffered and died for us so that we may be forgiven and free.
Christ is on our side. He lives to daily make intersessions for us(Hebrews 7:25), and because of this, we are overcomers: we live above the power of sin and the devil; we live lives regulated and empowered by God's grace.

Go into today thanking the Lord for becoming a man and remaining a man for the purpose of saving and perfecting you.

Prayer: ask the Lord to help you love Him more and more. Ask for grace to stand for Him today.
Confession: I'm fruitful in every good work. I'm growing in the knowledge of the Lord and pleasing Him in all things. Amen.

See Jesus

Download Today's Audio ☞ bit.ly/aud2138
Hebrews 2:8-9 (BBE) You put all things under his feet. For in making man ruler over all things, God did not put anything outside his authority; though we do not see everything under him now. But we see him who was made a little lower than the angels, even Jesus, crowned with glory and honour, because he let himself be put to death so that by the grace of God he might undergo death for all men.

God had a grand plan for man. We get a glimpse of this in Genesis where after making man, God gave him dominion over all things. Understand this, the supposed king of the jungle is the one endowed with one of the most imposing physical structures. In the sea, the greater in structure also rules over the lesser. But over all these, man was put in charge. He had neither the imposing physique nor the menacing features one would expect, but he was made in God’s image and likeness and given dominion.

So great was the throne God had prepared for man and so inexplicable was it that it was echoed in the prophetic words of David in Psalms 8 from verses 3 through 9. The Psalmist in amazement expressed his bewilderment with the words, “What is man that thou art mindful of him?”. Notice however in verse 6 he says, “Thou hast made him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet”. The Psalmist was speaking prophetically having a glimpse into the divine design for man.

It is no news that man lost his place to the devil and hence the plans of God for man was distorted. This is why we do not see all things under his feet as Hebrews 2 verse 8 also pointed out. However, God, through Jesus, brought man back into His divine plan. Jesus became flesh and reconciled man to God, bringing back man to the place where God originally designed for him. Now no man can attain the place of dominion and glory by and of himself, only in Christ can this be done.

He is exalted above every throne and name that is named and is crowned with glory and honor. Everyone who believes in Him will share in that glory as the scriptures have said, “Christ in me the hope of glory” (Col 1:27). Look to Jesus.

Go into today Giving thanks to Jesus for His sacrifice.
Prayer: Ask for grace to keep beholding Him and never take your eyes off Him.

Dare To Call God Father

Download Today's Audio ☞ bit.ly/aud2137

Matthew 6:9 (KJV) After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which  art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

The most revolutionary revelation in history was the teaching of Jesus calling God Father. Hitherto, God was seen as a deity too far to be reached, unapproachable and cannot be close to but feared and dreaded.

The Muslims can never call God Father, its a blasphemy to them. An attempt to say such will stir up repulsion and rebellion from within them and the same reaction is seen from the African traditional religionists.
Judges 13:22 says, ''And Manoah said unto his wife, We shall surely die, because we have seen God''.

Jesus didn’t come to give us a religion. Christianity is not a religion, it is a love relationship with God. There are lots of religions in the world. Christianity is not one of them. Religion is Man’s attempt to save himself, to help himself and strive to get God’s approval. Salvation is God’s attempt to save man, to help man and to accept and approve of man to walk with Him.

The greatest privilege God has called man into is sonship. He has chosen to have His life flow in us. He has decided to make us share in His divine nature; holiness and righteousness. He has decided to take delight in the lifting of our holy hands and in the offering of our lips in praise and adoration.

Romans 8:15  'For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.'

Go into today knowing that God is your Father if you have accepted Christ as Lord, He lives inside of you and  He is closer and more real to you than the very hair on your body.

Prayer: Pray that God reveals Himself to you more as a Father.

Seeing The Kingdom Of God

Download Today's Audio ☞ bit.ly/aud2136
John 3:3 (KJV)
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

I remember something that happened when I was an undergraduate student. One of my Christian classmates was in a difficult situation, and doing certain things that would compromise his faith would have easily helped him out of that situation, but he refused to compromise. A second classmate who attended the same Christian fellowship with him kept advising him to compromise and make life easy for himself. When the second classmate didn’t stop his persuasions, my Christian classmate became tired and told him to his face: ‘you are not born again’. This became an issue because the second classmate who was a leader on campus fellowship didn't hide the fact that he was deeply offended by what my Christian classmate said to him.

My Christian classmate refused to compromise because the kingdom of God was real to him and it regulated his everyday life--he could see the kingdom of God. My second classmate simply couldn’t understand why the first brother wouldn’t compromise, he apparently wasn’t conscious of the kingdom and wasn’t seeing life from a kingdom perspective.

Being born again brought us into the kingdom of light. We were once in darkness and could not see the kingdom of God. But being born again gives us the ability to perceive and be ruled by the kingdom of God. We begin to understand the purpose of life and how we are part of God’s eternal kingdom (A kingdom that will indeed rule over all). We begin to see life from that perspective and make our choices from there.

Go into today remembering that those saved into God’s kingdom should live under the authority of Christ. Anyone who has no Lord over him is not saved.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me see your kingdom and walk in the reality of your kingdom and power. In Jesus name. Amen.

Add These To You

Download Today's Audio ☞ bit.ly/aud2135
2 Peter 1:8 (NET)
For if these things are really yours and are continually increasing, they will keep you from becoming ineffective and unproductive in your pursuit of knowing our Lord Jesus Christ more intimately

Judith received the Lord’s salvation in an inter-denominational youth camp meeting. That day, the preacher preached on escaping the wrath to come, explaining that the only way of escape was Jesus, she responded to the altar call after the sermon and got born again. She was full of the joy of the Holy Spirit and was eager to share her faith with all that cared to listen, one of them was Cathy.

Three years later Cathy ran into Judith in the compulsory National Youth Service Corps orientation camp in Lagos Nigeria. She was so excited the first day she caught a glimpse of Judith and determined that she was going to meet her. However, when they finally got to meet, Cathy’s enthusiasm was greatly doused as the meeting didn’t turn out to be what she expected.

She had expected to meet a Judith that was full of the joy and fire of the Holy Spirit, but instead, she met a Judith that was a barely-get-along-by Christian. It bothered her for long and she took it up in prayers. After praying sufficiently, she approached Judith again, this time she pointed out to Judith how Judith was influential in her getting saved and on fire for Jesus. She enquired to know what happened that put out all the light that she once exuded.

After a long discussion, she discovered that much of the discouragement Judith was having was as a result of the failures and lack of victories Judith had experience both in the areas of her health, sexual purity, relationships, and even finances. And these were largely a result of her not taking to heart the instructions of the scriptures and building her faith thereby. She pointed Judith to 2 Peter 1:4-10 encouraging her that giving all diligence, she must add to her faith virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love.

Go into today determined to give all diligence in adding these things to you.

Prayer: Lord, I have heard your word for me today. Please help me from today to never have a better yesterday in my walk with you. Help me to continually add to my faith and shine ever brighter for you in this dark world. Amen.

Praying For Peace

Download Today's Audio ☞ bit.ly/aud2134

1 Timothy 2:1-4 (KJV)  I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

In many countries today, because their leaders are politically elected, many people who did not vote for them do not really wish them success. They forget that if their leaders fail, their country would suffer for it. Indeed, throughout history, many needless wars have been fought and countless lives lost because of the personal failings of those in authority. It is therefore wise to pray for those who occupy seats of power because the gospel of peace prospers when there is peace. People running to and fro to secure their lives because of wars and rumors of wars do not have the ability to settle down to hear the gospel and be discipled.

We pray for our leaders because we want peace in our nations. We want peace in our nations because we want to be able to share the gospel. The gospel prospers and more people are saved when there is peace.

There are [demonic] faith systems that require the lack of peace as a [spiritual] prerequisite for their propagation, but our gospel prospers when there is peace, and we should use our authority as the Church of Christ to bring peace into our territories. Remember, the king's heart is in the hand of the Lord (see Proverbs 21:1).

Go into today remembering that the propagation of the gospel is the most important thing going on in the world today. If this can truly be our basis for our prayers, then our answers would come. When our motive for praying is right, we can be sure God would answer.

Prayer: Father, make me a true agent for the propagation of your gospel. Deliver me from self-centeredness, in Jesus name. Amen.

A Perfect Heart

Download Today's Audio Here ☞ bit.ly/aud2133
1 Chronicles 28:9 (KJV)
And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with  a willing mind: for the Lord searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.

It was holidays and Ben and his siblings were at home. Ben was so excited about the break because he planned to have lots of fun with his video game. However, his father had other plans. He had noticed Ben’s proclivity towards excessive play and therefore planned out several chores and tasks for him to complete daily for the holidays. He planned it in such a way that there would still be enough time for Ben to play.

Ben was furious, he didn’t want anything to do with the tasks and chores as he felt holidays were for having fun and nothing else. But his father warned him sternly, informing him that he would be grounded from playing video games among other punishments should he refuse to carry out the daily tasks. So, every day Ben would grudgingly carry out the task, but because his heart was not in it, he would do them poorly, and more importantly, he failed to learn anything from the experience as he treated it as though it were a prison sentence.

We have all been Ben at one time or the other. A perfect heart goes beyond just doing things, it examines our disposition to doing them. The New English Translation in rendering the text above uses the phrase ‘a submissive attitude and a willing spirit’. When we carry out our tasks grudgingly or without any commitment of heart to it, we are not doing it with a perfect heart.

Note that service to God must be with a perfect heart. Willingness is one manifestation of a perfect heart. 1 Chron 29:9 says, ‘Then the people rejoiced, for they offered willingly because with perfect heart they offered willingly to the Lord: and David also rejoiced with great joy’. A perfect heart is also a heart devoid of offense. It is a pre-requisite for serving God acceptably. Bible spoke of King Amaziah saying, ‘And he did what was right in the sight of the Lord, but not with a perfect heart’ (2 Chron 25:2).

Go into today remembering that the eyes of the Lord run to and fro the whole earth seeking to show himself strong on the behalf of those whose heart is perfect towards him (2 Chron 16:9a).

Prayer: Lord, help me serve you with a perfect heart and know you more. Amen.

Will All Things Work Together For My Good?

Download Today's Audio Here ☞ bit.ly/aud2132

Romans 8:28 (KJV)  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Jude accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in a crusade. He got baptized in the Holy Ghost and began to manifest certain gifts of the Spirit in that same meeting.
With time, it became clear to him that the Lord had called him to be an evangelist, but because of his poor family background, he ignored the call, even when several visions and prophecies came as confirmation. He wanted to be very rich, so he chose a lucrative career and put the best of his effort to make it work. But his efforts were futile and he was constantly frustrated.

It became even more frustrating when because of his prayer, people with difficult problems came back with testimonies of freedom and breakthroughs, but his prayers didn't seem to be potent in his own life.

The understanding of the cause of his frustration came to him through a vision. In that vision, today's Bible verse was explained to him. He now realized that although he had received Christ as his savior, he had refused to obey God's call, and things were not working for his good.

Are you like Jude who knows what God has called you into, but is ignoring the call? You see, all things will work together for good when you love the Lord. Loving the Lord makes you willing to live according to His call.

We can see in Revelation 12:11 that those who overcome by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony are those who live selflessly for the sake of fulfilling God's call. "[T]hey [do] not love their lives so much that they [are] afraid to die" (Revelation 12:11 NLT)

Go into today knowing that if all things must work together for your good, you must love God and live your life in the consciousness of His call and purpose for you.

Prayer: Lord, help me to love you more than anything else. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Complete In Him

Get the Devotional  Audio☞ bit.ly/aud1446

Colossians 2:8 (NET)
Be careful not to allow anyone to captivate you through an empty, deceitful philosophy that is according to human traditions and the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.

Many of the Gentile Christians in Colossi were greatly harassed by some Jewish teachers who insisted that they needed to also be converted to Judaism in order for their salvation to be complete. Some of the believers in Gentile territory were deceived by these doctrines and some of them started observing Jewish festivals and feasts, started circumcising their children, and even worshiping according to Jewish tradition.

Today, we may see traces of this same error in the body of Christ; it seems to be creeping in gradually. There are some Christians today that actually believe that their prayers have more merit when prayed at the Wailing Wall in Israel. Some have even gone as far as beginning to practice some of the Jewish feasts because they have been told that there is some power in doing such things. I have heard that some Christians have started celebrating the Passover, and some even partaking in the animal sacrifice which is a part of that festival.

Please remember that as a believer in Christ Jesus, the covenant you have with God is superior to the covenant a Jew who is not saved has with God. We have a better covenant with better promises (Heb 7:22, 8:6). You do not have to become a Jew in any way for you to walk in the fullness of the blessing. That doctrine is a lie from the pit of hell and it brings believers under the dominion of elemental spirits.

Go into today thanking God because He has made you complete in Christ Jesus (Col 2:10). You do not need any Jewish tradition to be made complete.

Return To The Lord

Download Today's Audio☞ bit.ly/aud2131

Isaiah 30:15 (KJV) For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.
Somehow Moses knew God would deliver the Israelites from their captivity in Egypt by his hands, so he visited their camp and as occasion would have it, he saw an Egyptian fighting one of his brothers. He quickly joined in the fight, killed the Egyptian, buried him and walked away feeling like a deliverer. Shortly after this, he returned to his people again and this time, he saw two of his brothers fighting. Oh, my brothers, don’t fight! he must have exclaimed. But unlike the other time, the guilty brother exclaimed, don’t kill me like you did the Egyptian the other day!  That seemingly good action of Moses chased him into the wilderness for forty years: the time it took him to learn how to put his confidence in God and not in his own strength.

Just like Moses, many Christian who have gotten a glimpse of God’s plan for their lives have proceeded in the excitement and power of the flesh to execute these plans and have landed themselves in pains and sorrows. Because of this, some have abandoned God’s plan while some have spent a reasonable part of their lives struggling.

If you are reading this, it means it is not too late for you, for thus says the Lord: "Your salvation requires you to turn back to me and stop your silly efforts to save yourselves. Your strength will come from settling down in complete dependence on me’' Isaiah 30:15 (MSB).

They that are in flesh cannot please God (Romans 8:8). A plan, no matter how good, if executed in the power of the flesh cannot please God; it will only land you in troubles. Return to the Lord!

Go into today turning your trust and confidence away from your own strength and power to the strength and power of Jesus. If you know you have a divine assignment, your first and most important assignment is to learn how to be led by God and accurately discern His leadings. Your times and seasons depend on this.

Prayer: Father, forgive me for times I have acted in the flesh in order to fulfill a spiritual call. Help me from this day to be led by your Spirit at all times. Amen.

Amazing Grace 2

Download Today's Audio☞ bit.ly/aud2130
Romans 10:9 (KJV)  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

When Ravi heard the gospel, it sounded too good to be true. Because as the son of a first-order sorcerer he understood spiritual things, he knew that his soul was going to face the repercussions of his sins(if not in this time, in another). He had resigned his fate to condemnation and decided to continue to do whatever it takes to 'enjoy' life while he still could.
But here was someone explaining to him that all his sins can be washed away. That Jesus (the righteous) came to be the Ransome for our sins. This sounded too good to be true.

After accepting the Lord Jesus, because Ravi truly understood the benefits of being washed from all sin, he walked very closely with God and his life gave expression to God's great power.

The biggest problem of man is Sin. The only sacrifice that could atone for man's sin is the sacrifice of Jesus. Man was made for God. He was made in God's image to express Him in time and space. The hindrance to man's fellowship with God has always been Sin. Those who accept the Lord Jesus are washed from Sin and set free from its eternal consequences.

Go into today thanking God for His amazing grace. No matter what you do for God, it is not sufficient to pay for His sacrifice in Christ Jesus, yet He still rewards you for your labor of love.

Prayer: Thank our Heavenly Father for being so good to us. Ask for strength to love Him more.

Impending Judgment

Download Today's Audio here☞ bit.ly/aud1812

Acts 24:25 (NET)
While Paul was discussing righteousness, self-control, and the coming judgment, Felix became frightened and said, “Go away for now, and when I have an opportunity, I will send for you.”

When Lamar accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, he didn’t accept Christ because someone told him that that was a ticket to a better life (that gospel could never appeal to Lamar because he was born into great wealth), he believed in Christ because he now realized that Christ was the only one who could shield him from the judgment that was sure to come. He had several disturbing dreams before a preacher brought the gospel to him, and in those dreams, he saw himself descending into hell fire. He knew he was doomed but didn’t know the way out until the gospel came to him.

Today, there is a conscious effort by some to remove the warning about the judgment of God from the preaching of the gospel. Any gospel message that does not properly explain the ramification of Jesus' salvation from impending judgment is a weak gospel. One main point of the gospel message is that receiving Jesus is the only way to escape the impending damnation (see John 3:18).

From today’s Bible verse, we can clearly see that one element of the gospel message preached by the apostles was ‘The Judgment of God’. When in the days of the apostles, people they preached to asked ‘what shall we do [to be saved]?’(see Acts 2:37, 16:30) they asked this question because they understood that there is impending judgment and doom, and they wanted to be saved from it.

Go into today remembering that there is coming judgment on all humankind. The only way to escape it is through the salvation of Christ Jesus.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to make you more effective in helping people escape eternal damnation by preaching the gospel to them

Serving The King 2

Download Today's Audio☞ bit.ly/aud2129

Luke 17:10 (KJV)  So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.

During joseph's lifetime, he did not get a special reward for the part he played in the birth and life of Jesus. However, after he is long dead, he is now a subject to study, and wherever Jesus' birth is mentioned, he must be mentioned also. What an eternal honor.

God is a just God and because of this, he will reward everyone according to his work. We must learn to trust Him!

If you were Joseph, what would you have done? Would you ask the Angel for what your gain will be? Joseph, however, did not question God, he just obeyed knowing that his gain is in doing the will of God. He obeyed God and his name and work will now transcend time.

Will you serve God acceptably and receive a just and enduring reward or will you serve Him for gains that have no eternal value? From today's scripture, we can learn that those who would serve God acceptably do not do so with an entitlement mentality, they do so with a servant mentality even though they are sons.

Go into today knowing that it is when you serve God with the right mindset that your labor is a labor of love, and such will never go unrewarded.

Pray this way: Lord I receive grace to give my all to serve your pleasure, in Jesus' name. Amen.

He Created All

Download Today's  Audio☞ http://bit.ly/aud1441

Colossians 1:16 (NET)
For all things in heaven and on earth were created by him - all things, whether visible or invisible, whether thrones or dominions, whether principalities or powers - all things were created through him and for him.
Before spiritual thrones were occupied by demonic beings, the Lord made them, and his plan was for them to be occupied by man. He also made angels. But a third of them fell and became beings of darkness. Man also fell and became flesh. Because of man’s fall, these thrones have been occupied by the fallen angels.

Hebrews 2:5 & 8 reveals that God's plan is for humankind to rule all things [created]. This is the plan that caused war in heaven because Satan wanted to take the position reserved for man and become ruler over all things. But as glorious as he was, he was created as an angel: a servant and not a son [heir]. His designation was not for his throne to be exalted above the stars (angels see Rev 1:20) of God. That was the designation of man (see 1 Cor 6:3, Heb 2:5, 8).

Since man fell and could not fulfill his eternal destiny, the Lord became like man who had become (flesh), so that He would fulfill this destiny, and we in Him might all fulfill it. He became the last Adam.

Think about how valuable and powerful a man in Christ is. He has been made alive and brought back into his eternal destiny. He is no longer going to end up as mere flesh, but will be resurrected into the glorious destiny of God’s sons.

Go into today remembering that what we (Christians) have in Christ is much more valuable than all the wealth in the world. God wants to give us His kingdom (Luke 12:32). He wants to make us rule over all things; including the whole universe.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me walk worthy of my calling and please you in all regards. Amen. (See 1 Thessalonians 2:12).
